We are keeping a close eye on the evolving winter weather. We know planning ahead is essential for families, and we want to give you a heads-up about the POSSIBILITY of an e-learning day on Monday, January 22, 2024 due to the high probability of ice early tomorrow and throughout the day. Our team is monitoring the predicted ice and wintery mix as well as the timing of this weather event, and we will notify you via alerts (Call/Text/Email & Social Media) as soon as a decision is made. We are telling you this early this evening, so you can prepare for your families. We appreciate your understanding and appreciate your patience. Decisions like these are not taken lightly. Stay tuned for updates, and thank you for being part of our District 186 community. #connect186 #weare186

In anticipation of exceptionally cold temperatures expected tomorrow morning and a water main break that is still under repair at Jefferson Middle School, Springfield Public School District 186 will have an e-learning day on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. ALL District 186 schools will have an e-learning day on January 16th. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our utmost priority, and we thank you for your understanding as we collectively navigate through these weather challenges. Based on the weather forecast we anticipate being in school on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. We have enacted our E-Learning day plan that allows students to receive asynchronous instruction at home, in lieu of using the District’s five extra days that have historically been added to the end of the school year. To learn more about District 186’s E-Learning plan visit our E-Learning webpage - https://www.sps186.org/page/e-learning-information

Lanphier Families of students in our PM Program- We just wanted to communicate that tomorrow, Thursday, December 14th will be the last “in person” class day for the semester for the Lanphier PM Program. We have communicated this with students and let them know that they should be completing their course work. All PM students know they are capable of working on course work outside of LHS. Tests are opened by instructors while students are in class at LHS. All course work is able to be completed at home or LHS. Should students need any academic time beyond Thursday for course completion, students will need to make an appointment with their Assistant Principal before December 20, 2023. If you have any further questions, please reach out to your student’s Academic Principal. Hey Class of 2024!, Listen up... The yearbook needs your help! We were all young once, why not blast to the past and submit your baby picture to be included in this year’s copy of the Lan-Hi Yearbook. Your picture should be from when you were a newborn all the way to age three. Pictures are due by next Wednesday, December 20th and can be submitted using the link sent to your school email account! Also, we need your help to document “What has your Senior Year been like so far?” Please use the second link that was sent to your email to complete a survey to share your thoughts! This survey will close on December 20th. We appreciate you and want to make the rest of your Senior year awesome! #lanphierunited

Congratulations to Mr. Winders on being selected as a $500 winner! Security Bank selects teachers who give back to their students and their community and Mr. Winders was a teacher who was nominated. We are proud of him and what he gives to his students everyday! He stated he would use the money to purchase a camera for his yearbook class. Way to go Mr. Winders!
