Our students took a chance to see if they were up for the challenge of being always ready, and tackled the Army National Guard's obstacle course! We are thankful that they were able to bring it in to our gym today. It is such a neat experience for all of our students to experience!

*Update as of 2:36 p.m. We wanted to address any confusion around today's incident involving our Centegix system. As stated earlier, during the lunch hour two separate fights occurred involving several students. Security and teachers on duty immediately responded to deescalate the situation. Upon responding to the first fight, a teacher pressed their rapid response button on their Centegix badge multiple times signaling a hard lock down. Authorities were able to respond immediately, de-escalate the situation and the lock down was quickly cleared because the incident was under control. This situation was a major disruption, but at no time were weapons involved. One of the main benefits of our Centegix system is its simplicity. The cards have only one button. Our staff can push the button three times for a smaller alert and multiple times for a larger alert. The three-button alert is, by far, the most common use of the system. This localized alert only notifies a building level team to respond to the incident. However, the multiple button option alerts building and central office administration, puts the building on a lockdown, and contacts 911. Lanphier High School was never on a full hard lockdown. We are happy to have the Centegix service so that help can be pinpointed to a direct location. This is the first month that we have instituted this system. It is one more added layer of safety to support our students and staff. Springfield Police responded to LHS based on the hard lock down that was initiated. They assessed the situation and deemed it safe within minutes. There were no knives or other weapons, there was no student injury due to a weapon as was reported on social media. We are aware of misinformation and rumors being spread through social media, and we ask for your cooperation in sharing only factual information. Incidents like these cause confusion and a major disruption to the learning process. We do not condone fighting, and the involved students will be held accountable as per our policies. Our first responsibility is student safety and to get the situation under control. We will then communicate about the situation after the building and students are deemed safe. Thank you ------------------------------------------- Currently, we have an ambulance and fire truck on scene for a student medical emergency that is unrelated to the altercation that happened over the lunch hour at Lanphier High School.
