Marsh Elementary School

Owen Marsh is starting our very first Basketball Teams for Grades 4 & 5. Is your child interested in playing? Can you provide transportation? We might also create a Car Pool list, please answer yes below, if you would be willing to provide transportation for other students if needed. Please sign up on this google form: https://forms.gle/1zNVUfUAttpTMnqs8 This Thursday, January 4th will be an open gym. We want students with serious interest in playing to attend. The open gym will be from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. We will run some drills and skills and this will help us determine how many students are truly interested and will also have the transportation to attend. Here is a rough outline of the season: Practices will be held in the Month of January: Dates and times are TBD Games will be held on week nights starting in February until Spring Break. (Schedule will be coming soon.)

If anyone has old newspaper they want to donate to the art room, that would be great! They are working on Still Life collages and could use some.

We were notified by First Student that due to a higher than normal shortage of bus drivers today, there will be buses ruing late to their scheduled bus stop. Please monitor your student's bus stops. Also, all changes to buses have been entered into the First View App. You can use this app to track your student's bus and be informed of any bus number changes. We appreciate your patience and cooperation this morning.

We are so very excited to share with you the progress we have made over the past 3 years. We continue to close the achievement gap. Springfield Police Department Annual Halloween Safety Event

District 186 is excited to offer begin an after school Beginning Band Program for 5th grade students. Interested families will need to attend an information meeting for an opportunity to sign up and sign student/ parent contract. STEM Family Night Thursday, Sept. 27 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Lots of fun & engaging activities. Showcase of games from our new Math Curriculum. Book Fair will also be open to purchase books.

We want to remind you that we are fast approaching the deadline for students to have their physical and immunization information turned in per state guidelines. Please make sure that you have contacted your school’s nurse with your child’s upcoming physical/immunization appointment or that you have turned in your physical and immunization paperwork this week. Students failing to provide required health information will be excluded from school starting October 1st.

One of our BIG School Wide Goals this year at Owen Marsh Elementary is to Increase Student Attendance, and reduce Tardiness/Chronic Absenteeism. Today Texas Roadhouse came to Owen Marsh for a kickoff event "Attendance Matters" Students received free kids meal tokens and next Tuesday those students who have had perfect attendance so far these first 2 weeks of school will receive Perfect Attendance Certificates for a free Ranger Meal!!! We are tying in our attendance initiative with the Dine to Donate Nights on the attached flyer. Hopefully your family can go to Texas Roadhouse on any of the five days listed and enjoy a delicious Texas Road house Meal. Next Tuesday, September 5 is the HUGE Back to School Texas Roadhouse Bash!!! 4:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. -Bounce house provided by Central Illinois Inflatables -Balloon twisting provided by Hot Air Creations -Face painting provided by Sunshine Lollipop Face Painting & More -Andy Armadillo appearances -FREE ice cream sundaes -Treat bags IMPORTANT: Everyone will need to drop their paper receipt into a box by the front doors.
