Good morning, Springfield High! Today is January 19, 2023

After school tutoring will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm in room 160.

Anyone interested in being in the spring musical, please come to the student/parent meeting on Monday, January 23rd at 6:00 pm in the Auditorium. You will have a chance to meet the new director, some of the staff, and find out what musical we will be doing. Musical synopsis and character descriptions will be available as well as song and reading cuts for auditions. Dates will be given for auditions, call-backs, cast meeting, read-through, and first rehearsal. There will be time for Q & A.

Any Boy or Girl interested in competing for the track and field teams this Spring, practice will begin on Monday January 30th for athletes not involved in a winter sport.  There will be an informational meeting after school on Tuesday January 24th in the Driver’s Ed Room (room 128).  Please see Coach Cotner or Coach Hale with any questions.  

National Honor Society is ready to admit new members for the spring of 2023. Current 11th and 12th graders, who are not currently members of NHS, can apply. A list of eligible applicants is posted on Canvas, outside the Main Office, and outside rooms 153A and 356. Applications can be picked up with Mr. Kramer in 153A and will be due Thursday, Feb. 23. Any questions see Mrs. Taft or Mr. Kramer. 

GSA will meet after school tomorrow in room 366 instead of next week because of city tournament. Check the Padlet on the SHS activities page for this semester’s meeting dates.

The Chess club will be meeting after school from 3:17 to 4:15 in Mr. Hull’s Room (Room 216) tomorrow to play and teach Chess! Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level!

The SHS Cheerleaders and the Scarlet Line Poms will be holding a joint youth clinic on February 4th from 8:30am-11:00am. Any students ages kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to attend the clinic and then perform at the afternoon basketball game that same day! Registration forms can be found in the main office or on the SHS cheerleading website. You must be registered and paid by January 23rd to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Contact Mrs. Dorr or Coach Moscardelli with questions. 

Seniors it is the time of year where local scholarships become available. Be sure to constantly check the Class of 23 Canvas page for more opportunities. the Community Foundation for Land of Lincoln has 25 scholarships available to SHS students. Highlighted this week are three for African-American students and one for Hispanic students. Check canvas announcements for more info!  

Solon Olympics round 2 is here! To help kick off spirit week and to get fired up for city tournament we are bringing back Solon Olympics! This Friday night from 7-9 the classes will compete against each other on volleyball, dodge ball, pyramid building, tug of war and other small contests to see if anyone can knock off the juniors who won back in the fall. Will the seniors recover and win this time? Will the freshman not finish last? Will Dr Leardi griddy again? All that and more answered this Friday at 7 pm!  Permission slips will be in Main Office starting at lunch Thursday. Bring a signed permission slip with you to compete!
