The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Applications can be found at: https://forms.gle/iFToPEetKcRdkQfk9.  Returning members are asked to complete the form, also. 

All juniors and seniors are invited to the College Fair Field Trip at the State Fairgrounds on October 5th. Students provide their own transportation and are dismissed after third hour. Parent permission slips must be turned in by September 30th, and students must be passing their afternoon classes to attend. Juniors - use the green permission slip, Seniors - use the pink permission slip. Permission forms are available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

The 2022 SHS Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 15th. Doors open at 6:15 and all students must pass through a search and metal detectors to gain entry. If an SHS student is bringing an outside guest, the proper form must be filled out in its entirety and brought to the dance that evening. No exceptions on the form. All guests must have valid picture identification. Forms are yellow and available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

Learn more about plants, and brighten up the school at plant club! An Informational meeting will be held tonight right after school, in Ms. Reinders’ classroom, room 516. See Vanessa Bommarito or Ms. Reinders if you have any questions.

The girls golf team finished 3rd at the CS8 Conference Tournament yesterday at Bunn Park.  Junior Emma Scheffler was the leading scorer for SHS with an 87.  Senior Katie Chen and junior Kendall Knauer added 88 each, and junior Madelyn Beck rounded out the scoring for SHS with an 89.  The team will travel to Champaign on Thursday for the Regional Tournament at the Blue Course.

The Girls’ Swim Team defeated Porta last night 101 - 59.  Mary O’Brien took 1st in the 200 Free and the 500 Free, Sarah Cavanagh took first in the 200 IM and the 100 Fly, Isabella Cavanagh took first in the 50 free and the 100 Breaststroke.  Emily Sharp led the team with a 10 second time drop in the 500 freestyle and a PR in the 50 free.

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team narrowly lost to Maroa-Forsyth High School 5-4 yesterday. In singles, Sheelah Ingebrigtsen, Myla Shannon and TeTee Jallah claimed victories.  At doubles, the tandem of Sheelah Ingebrigtsen/Myla Shannon were victorious. 

In Junior Varsity play, Olivia Revelle won at singles while the doubles team of Asianna Johnson/Shelva Sewavi claimed a victory. Congratulations on a strong performance and good luck against Sacred Heart-Griffin this afternoon!

The Chess club will be meeting after school from 3:17 to 4:15 in Mr. Hull’s Room 216 this Friday to play and teach Chess! Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level! We hope to see you there!
