Good morning, Springfield High! Today is September 26, 2022

After school tutoring will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in room 160. After school tutoring will begin on Monday, September 26th. (this part can be dropped after this week)

Students and parents - please check the SHS web site for information regarding our home football games this year at Spartan Field. You can find the rules and policies under the NEWS section.

The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Applications can be found at: https://forms.gle/iFToPEetKcRdkQfk9.  Returning members are asked to complete the form, also. 

All juniors and seniors are invited to the College Fair Field Trip at the State Fairgrounds on October 5th. Students provide their own transportation and are dismissed after third hour. Parent permission slips must be turned in by September 30th, and students must be passing their afternoon classes to attend. Juniors - use the green permission slip, Seniors - use the pink permission slip. Permission forms are available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

The 2022 SHS Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 15th. Doors open at 6:15 and all students must pass through a search and metal detectors to gain entry. If an SHS student is bringing an outside guest, the proper form must be filled out in its entirety and brought to the dance that evening. No exceptions on the form. All guests must have valid picture identification. Forms are yellow and available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

Learn more about plants, and brighten up the school at plant club! An Informational meeting will be held tomorrow right after school, in Ms. Reinders’ classroom, room 516. See Vanessa Bommarito or Ms. Reinders if you have any questions.

The Cross country team hosted the SHS invite on Saturday at Lincoln Park. The varsity girls finished in 3rd place overall and were led by senior Maddie Kim. The JV girls also placed 3rd and were led by Keziah Toran. On the boys side, Finn Loken led the varsity boys to a top ten finish. The Freshman/sophomore boys placed 3rd and were led by Alex Ratz. The top finisher for the JV boys was Chase Heyen. Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday to support the cross country team!

Back to back!!!! The boys golf team won the Sangamon County Golf Tournament for a 2nd year in a row.  The team shot a 295 compared to 2nd place SHG with a 306.  Jake Baldin was medalist with a blistering 5 under par 67.  Peyton Woods added a impressive 73.  James Oh helped the team out with a 74.  Bryce Pound finished with an 81.
