Good morning, Springfield High! Today is September 21, 2022

After school tutoring will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in room 160. After school tutoring will begin on Monday, September 26th. (this part can be dropped after this week)

Students and parents - please check the SHS web site for information regarding our home football games this year at Spartan Field. You can find the rules and policies under the NEWS section.

The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Applications can be found at: https://forms.gle/iFToPEetKcRdkQfk9.  Returning members are asked to complete the form, also. 

All juniors and seniors are invited to the College Fair Field Trip at the State Fairgrounds on October 5th. Students provide their own transportation and are dismissed after third hour. Parent permission slips must be turned in by September 30th, and students must be passing their afternoon classes to attend. Juniors - use the green permission slip, Seniors - use the pink permission slip. Permission forms are available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

The 2022 SHS Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 15th. Doors open at 6:15 and all students must pass through a search and metal detectors to gain entry. If an SHS student is bringing an outside guest, the proper form must be filled out in its entirety and brought to the dance that evening. No exceptions on the form. All guests must have valid picture identification. Forms are yellow and available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

Reminder there is an informational meeting for the summer 2024 Central Europe trip tonight at 6:30 in the library.

French Club will be having its Back-to-School Party tomorrow in Room 268 until 4pm.  Anyone can join French Club—see Madame Boltz with any questions.

If you want to make a difference for your community, consider joining the Habitat for Humanity club. There will be an official training session after school today in Mr Lightfoot's room, room 330. The training will last around an hour and is required if you want to volunteer.

Congratulations on September 19th the girls volleyball team beat Lanphier 25-13 25-8. Ruth Becker & Olivia Gumz had 5 kills apiece,Lily Lambert had 8 digs & 4 aces.. Megan Becker had 16 assists.Araya Garrison  & Lila Ambrose had 3 blocks each.

The Lady Senators volleyball team beat Jacksonville at Jacksonville in 2 sets 25-18 25-15. The Senators were lead by Eva Hamann & Ruth Becker in kills , Lily Lambert 7 digs, Araya Garrison 4 blocks & Megan Becker 9 assists. The Senators are now 4-1 in conference. City tournament continues tonight  at 7:30. JV also beat Jacksonville in 2 straight sets. Congratulations to both teams.

The varsity soccer team defeated Jacksonville 5-1 last night. Evan Carrell, Suliman Yafai, Ian Lamsargis and Damon Sturm scored for the Senators. The JV team also won 2-0 over Jacksonville.

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team narrowly lost to Rochester High School 5-4 yesterday. In singles, Nischi Korrapati, Sheelah Ingebrigtsen, Myla Shannon and TeTee Jallah claimed victories.

In Junior Varsity play, the girls won 7-3 with singles victories by Eva Nagel, Caroline Scherschel, Olivia Revelle, Valentina Osgood and Shelva Sewavi. In doubles, the teams of Asianna Johnson/Shelva Sewavi and Makenna Higgins/Valentina Osgood won. Congratulations on a strong performance!
