The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Applications can be found at: https://forms.gle/iFToPEetKcRdkQfk9. Returning members are asked to complete the form, also.

Juniors and seniors, colleges will begin visiting SHS starting this week. You are allowed to come to the presentation and hear from an admissions representative from those schools if your teacher allows and you are passing the class. Check the class Canvas page for announcements, more info about visits, and to sign up to attend. Any questions, see Mr. Kramer.
Open mats for wrestling will start next Monday September 19th from 3:30-5pm. Boys and girls are both welcome. Ask Coach Kenny in room 220 if you have questions.
All juniors and seniors are invited to the College Fair Field Trip at the State Fairgrounds on October 5th. Students provide their own transportation and are dismissed after third hour. Parent permission slips must be turned in by September 30th, and students must be passing their afternoon classes to attend. Juniors - use the green permission slip, Seniors - use the pink permission slip. Permission forms are available in the Guidance Office, room 104.
The 2022 SHS Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 15th. Doors open at 6:15 and all students must pass through a search and metal detectors to gain entry. If an SHS student is bringing an outside guest, the proper form must be filled out in its entirety and brought to the dance that evening. No exceptions on the form. All guests must have valid picture identification. Forms are yellow and available in the Guidance Office, room 104.
The ultimate frisbee club will meet today after school until 5:00. We will meet in room 521 and then move out into the field. Dress for the weather and bring water.
There will be an informational meeting for the Central Europe Trip Summer of 2024 next Wednesday night, September 21st in the SHS Library at 6:30 pm for parents and students. Any questions email Mrs. Eaton at dleaton@sps186.org.
The Robotics Club will hold an informational meeting Monday after school in room 110. If you can’t make the meeting please stop by and see Mr. Sutera.
French Club will be having its Back-to-School Party on Thursday, Sept. 22nd in Room 268 until 4pm. Anyone can join French Club—see Madame Boltz with any questions.
The Chess club will be meeting after school from 3:17 to 4:15 in Mr. Hull’s Room (Room 224) today to play and teach Chess! Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level! We hope to see you there!
Congratulations to the freshman football team on their 48-12 win over UHigh last night. With the win, the team improves to 2-2 on the season. Great job players and coaches!
The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Junior Varsity Team had a strong showing against Glenwood High School yesterday. Shelva Sewavi earned a victory at singles while the doubles teams of Kara Frazier/Maria Anselment and Caroline Scherschel/Annah Sharp posted victories.
The boys soccer team defeated Bloomington High 7-0 last night. Cooper Burke, Ty Dyson, Drew Dejaynes, Gavin Oyler, Bruce Beem and Bruno Rosas all scored for the Senators. Joe Brudnak recorded the shutout. The JV soccer team remained undefeated with a 3-0 victory over Bloomington.
