The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Applications can be found at: https://forms.gle/iFToPEetKcRdkQfk9.  Returning members are asked to complete the form, also.

Juniors and seniors, colleges will begin visiting SHS starting this week. You are allowed to come to the presentation and hear from an admissions representative from those schools if your teacher allows and you are passing the class. Check the class Canvas page for announcements, more info about visits, and to sign up to attend. Any questions, see Mr. Kramer.

Open mats for wrestling will start next Monday September 19th from 3:30-5pm.  Boys and girls are both welcome.  Ask Coach Kenny in room 220 if you have questions.  

All juniors and seniors are invited to the College Fair Field Trip at the State Fairgrounds on October 5th. Students provide their own transportation and are dismissed after third hour. Parent permission slips must be turned in by September 30th, and students must be passing their afternoon classes to attend. Juniors - use the green permission slip, Seniors - use the pink permission slip. Permission forms are available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

The 2022 SHS Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 15th. Doors open at 6:15 and all students must pass through a search and metal detectors to gain entry. If an SHS student is bringing an outside guest, the proper form must be filled out in its entirety and brought to the dance that evening. No exceptions on the form. All guests must have valid picture identification. Forms are yellow and available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

The ultimate frisbee club will meet tomorrow after school until 5:00. We will meet in room 521 and then move out into the field. Dress for the weather and bring water.

There will be an informational meeting for the Central Europe Trip Summer of 2024 next Wednesday night, September 21st in the SHS Library at 6:30 pm for parents and students.  Any questions email Mrs. Eaton at dleaton@sps186.org.

The Robotics Club will hold an informational meeting Monday after school in room 110.  If you can’t make the meeting please stop by and see Mr. Sutera.

French Club will be having its Back-to-School Party on Thursday, Sept. 22nd in Room 268 until 4pm.  Anyone can join French Club—see Madame Boltz with any questions.

The boys golf team lost the City Tournament last night. SHS finished with a 307 while SHG finished with a 302.  Peyton Woods led the Senators with a 73.  Jake Baldin carded a 77. Bryce Pound gave the team a chance with a 78.  Julian’s Valenti and James Oh both added 79s.  The team looks to rebound at the Dragon Classic Friday and Saturday in Pekin. 

The girls golf team won their senior night match over Glenwood last night by a score of 169 to 173.  Senior Sidney Miller and junior Madelyn Beck had the low rounds for the Senators with 5 over par 41.  Other senior finishes included Katie Chen with a 44, Megan Hoffman with a 46, Megan Hoppe and Tally Martin with 52 each, and Olivia Usher with a 55.  Coach Adkins wants to thank all the seniors for their dedication to the program over the last 4 years.
