The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Applications can be found at: https://forms.gle/iFToPEetKcRdkQfk9.  Returning members are asked to complete the form, also.

Juniors and seniors, colleges will begin visiting SHS starting this week. You are allowed to come to the presentation and hear from an admissions representative from those schools if your teacher allows and you are passing the class. Check the class Canvas page for announcements, more info about visits, and to sign up to attend. Any questions, see Mr. Kramer.

If your time is limited,  but you want to volunteer for a great cause that gives directly back to District 186 students, Pen in a Box is for you Pen in a Box will have its first meeting of the year Thursday before school at 7:45 in Mrs Eaton’s room.

Open mats for wrestling will start next Monday September 19th from 3:30-5pm.  Boys and girls are both welcome.  Ask Coach Kenny in room 220 if you have questions.  

All juniors and seniors are invited to the College Fair Field Trip at the State Fairgrounds on October 5th. Students provide their own transportation and are dismissed after third hour. Parent permission slips must be turned in by September 30th, and students must be passing their afternoon classes to attend. Juniors - use the green permission slip, Seniors - use the pink permission slip. Permission forms are available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

The 2022 SHS Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 15th. Doors open at 6:15 and all students must pass through a search and metal detectors to gain entry. If an SHS student is bringing an outside guest, the proper form must be filled out in its entirety and brought to the dance that evening. No exceptions on the form. All guests must have valid picture identification. Forms are yellow and available in the Guidance Office, room 104.

The ultimate frisbee club will meet again on Friday after school until 5:00. We will meet in room 521 and then move out into the field. Dress for the weather and bring water.

Girls Volleyball game tonight against University High School. It is a home game at 7! The theme is jersey night! 

There is a feminist club  meeting today after school in Mrs Eaton’s room 366.

The soccer team defeated Quincy High 3-1 last night at Illinois. Ty Dyson and Vince Pratt scored for the Senators. The JV and varsity teams are in action tonight at Lee Field again Normal U-High. JV kick-off is at 4:30 with the varsity match after.  The theme is jersey night! 

There will be an informational meeting for the Central Europe Trip Summer of 2024 next Wednesday night, September 21st in the SHS Library at 6:30 pm for parents and students.  Any questions email Mrs. Eaton at dleaton@sps186.org.
