The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Achtung Achtung SHS, The German Club will be holding our first meeting today after school from 3:30-4:30pm in room 250. We will be hosting the Gummy Bear Winter Olympics for our kickoff activity. Test your skills in bobsledding, racing, trivia, engineering, and crafting all while enjoying German gummy bears! All students are welcome to join German Club regardless of any languages previously taken! If you would like to join, fill out the form on the SHS website. Juniors and seniors, colleges will begin visiting SHS starting this week. You are allowed to come to the presentation and hear from an admissions representative from those schools if your teacher allows and you are passing the class. Check the class Canvas page for announcements, more info about visits, and to sign up to attend. Any questions, see Mr. Kramer.

If your time is limited,  but you want to volunteer for a great cause that gives directly back to District 186 students, Pen in a Box is for you Pen in a Box will have its first meeting of the year Thursday 9/15 before school at 7:45 in Mrs Eaton’s room.

The Girls Swimming and Diving team competed in the Capital City Invite this weekend.  The team was led by Falyn Long with a second place overall finish in diving.  Mia Moreno had a PR in the 100 backstroke, Mary O’Brien had a top ten finish in the 100 Free and the 100 Breaststroke, Emily Sharp had a PR in the 200 free and the 500 free.  Great job girls!  

The boys and girls cross country team competed at the Lanphier invite on Saturday at Lincoln Park.  The girls Varsity team finished in 2nd place led by Senior Maddie Kim who finished in 7th place.  Phoebe Barnes, Mia Volpert and Josie Ralph all medaled in the race as well by finishing in the top 25.  The JV girls were led by Senior Melia Muschinske who finished in 11th place.  On the boys side, the varsity boys finished in 9th place led by Senior Finn Loken who finished 10th overall.  In the Freshman boys race, Clayton Borah placed 5th overall. The JV boys were led by junior Jaden Kuntz who finished in 6th place.  The teams next compete at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday at Detweiler Park in Peoria.  

The boys golf team placed 4th in the 40 team field this weekend. Two day totals start with  Peyton Woods who finished runner up with a 146.  Jake Baldin carded a 160.  Julian Valenti added a 164 and Bryce Pound finished with a 166.

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Junior Varsity Team competed against Glenwood High School this past weekend with Eva Nagel earning a victory in singles while Kara Frazier/Maria Anselment and Audrey Delcomyn/Eva Nagel won in doubles.  The girls team will compete against Decatur MacArthur tomorrow afternoon.

Open mats for wrestling will start next Monday September 19th from 3:30-5PM.  Boys and girls are both welcome.  Ask coach Kenny in room 220 if you have questions.
