The city will close New Street from Capital to Edwards Monday morning, September 12th for sewer work. Students and staff should not park in these locations.
Last call for students who want to sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT . The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for juniors. The due date to sign up is September 9th and the date of the test is October 12th. The cost of this test is $18 and cash or checks must be paid in the Guidance Office by Sept 9th. Any questions? The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Applications can be found at: https://forms.gle/iFToPEetKcRdkQfk9. Achtung Achtung SHS, The German Club will be holding our first meeting on Monday, September 12th, after school from 3:30-4:30pm in room 250. We will be hosting the Gummy Bear Winter Olympics for our kickoff activity. Test your skills in bobsledding, racing, trivia, engineering, and crafting all while enjoying German gummy bears! All students are welcome to join German Club regardless of any languages previously taken! If you would like to join, fill out the form on the SHS website. The football game is tomorrow! Saturday at 1 pm at Southeast! The boys will be playing Rochester and the theme is high school stereotypes! Come dressed and ready to cheer!
The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team earned a convincing victory against Lincoln Community High School with a 7-2 margin. In singles, Nischi Korrapati, Crystal Chen, Shelva Sewavi and Asia Johnson emerged victorious with honorable mention finishes by Hayden Thongsithavong and Kally Chen. In doubles action, Sheelah Ingebrigtsen/Myla Shannon, Tetee Jallah/Nora Jasim and Eva Nagel/Raina Jackson claimed victories. Congratulations on a strong performance!
The soccer team improved to 5-2-1 with an 1-0 victory over Quincy Notre Dame. Evan Carrell scored on an assist from Vince Pratt. Joe Brudnak recorded the shutout. The JV team remained undefeated with a 3-0 victory over QND.
The boys golf team defeated Jacksonville last night by 25 strokes. Jake Baldin earned medalist honors with a 2 under par 34. Bryce Pound carded a 37. Peyton Woods added a 39 and Julian Valenti with a 40.
