Picture day is today. Picture packets may be ordered until the end of today at mylifetouch.com with your student’s school id or this picture day ID — EVTXT2ZQ2.  After today, parents will have to wait until the proofs arrive back at the school. Proofs will contain unique access codes that can be used to place orders online. 

PSAT/NMSQT signup is now available for 9th-11th graders.  The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for juniors.  While 9th and 10th graders may sign up, scores will not be counted for the scholarship.   The due date to sign up is September 9th.  The cost of this test is $18 and cash or checks must be paid in the Guidance Office by Sept 9th.  Any questions? There will be a meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Mr. Lightfoot’s room (330) tomorrow at 7:45 in the morning. See Mr Lightfoot if you have any questions or are unable to attend.

Freshmen interested in running for Student Council, elections will be this week! You were invited to join a class page on Canvas, more info will be located on there. The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Monroe Street. 

Achtung Achtung SHS, The German Club will be holding our first meeting on Monday, September 12th, after school from 3:30-4:30pm in room 250. We will be hosting the Gummy Bear Winter Olympics for our kickoff activity. Test your skills in bobsledding, racing, trivia, engineering, and crafting all while enjoying German gummy bears! All students are welcome to join German Club regardless of any languages previously taken! If you would like to join, fill out the form on the SHS website. The Lady Senators volleyball team  played their best match of the year against Rochester. The Senators won a hard fought match 25-22 17-25 & 25-22. The Senators are now tied for first in the conference 2-0 & 8-1 overall.  The Senators were lead by Lila Ambrose & Araya Garrison with 12 & 10 blocks. Ruth Becker had 15 kills , Sydney Devlin had 11 assists & Megan Becker had 21 digs. Amazing job ladies! What a great team effort.  JV lost 25-15 26-24 Freshmen 25-5 25-15. All the teams played very hard.  Thanks to all the fans that came out to support us in Rochester.

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team competed against Bloomington High School with Tetee Jallah winning in singles action.  In Junior Varsity play, Kara Frazier/Maria Anselment, Nora Jasim/Tetee Jallah,  Asianna Johnson/Shelva Sewavi and Makenna Higgins/Valentina Osgood won in doubles.  Good luck to the girls team as they face Lincoln Community High School this Thursday.

The soccer team defeated Rochester 2-0 last night in a CS8 battle. Vince Pratt and Evan Carrell scored for the Senators. Joe Brudnak recorded the shut out. The JV team won 3-0 to stay undefeated.
