Picture day is coming on Wednesday, September 7th. Order picture packets before pictureday at mylifetouch.com with your student’s school id or this picture day ID — EVTXT2ZQ2. The Picture Day ID is only valid until the end of the day on picture day. After that, parents will have to wait until the proofs arrive back at the school. Proofs will contain unique access codes that can be used to place orders online. 

If you are interested in having lunch with your friends and playing games like Risk, Cataan, Ticket to Ride, or Axis and Allies you should join Historical Game Club. We meet during both A and B lunches Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Room 328. Everyone is welcome.

PSAT/NMSQT signup is now available for 9th-11th graders.  The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for juniors.  While 9th and 10th graders may sign up, scores will not be counted for the scholarship.   The due date to sign up is September 9th.  The cost of this test is $18 and cash or checks must be paid in the Guidance Office by Sept 9th.  Any questions? There will be a meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Mr. Lightfoot’s room (330) next Thursday at 7:45 in the morning. See Mr Lightfoot if you have any questions or are unable to attend.

Freshmen interested in running for Student Council, elections will be next week! You were invited to join a class page on Canvas, more info will be located on there. The lady Senators volleyball team plays at 7pm tonight at Rochester. We hope you will all come out & cheer them on.

The girls and boys cross country teams opened their season at the Granite City Invitational on Saturday. The Varsity girls finished in 9th place out of 21 teams. Maddie Kim was the top placer for SHS. The JV girls finished in 7th place out of 15 teams. Nola Sommer was the top placed for SHS. In the boys varsity race, the boys placed 23rd. Finn Loken was the top placed for SHS. In the freshman/sophomore division Clayton Borah led the boys to a 13th place finish. The team next competes on Saturday at Lincoln Park at the Lanphier Invite. Races start at 9 am.

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team participated in the Edwardsville Invitational this past weekend.  Prior to the weather cancellation, the team lost to Waterloo High School 2-7 with several hard fought matches resulting in narrow defeats.  In singles action, Nischi Korrapati and Myla Shannon both claimed victory for the Senators.  Good luck to the girls team as they face Bloomington High School this afternoon.

The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. Applications can be found at: https://forms.gle/iFToPEetKcRdkQfk9.  Returning members are asked to complete the form, also. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 7, at 3pm in the Board Room at 1900 W. Monroe Street.
