Picture day is coming on Wednesday, September 7th. Order picture packets before pictureday at mylifetouch.com with your student’s school id or this picture day ID — EVTXT2ZQ2. The Picture Day ID is only valid until the end of the day on picture day. After that, parents will have to wait until the proofs arrive back at the school. Proofs will contain unique access codes that can be used to place orders online. 

If you are interested in having lunch with your friends and playing games like Risk, Cataan, Ticket to Ride, or Axis and Allies you should join Historical Game Club. We meet during both A and B lunches Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Room 328. Everyone is welcome.

If you are interested in joining the Capitols Esports program, check out the page posted outside the main office to scan the QR code posted and get started. Tryouts will happen starting next week, so do not delay. If you have any questions, contact coach Dalton McGhiey or speak to an esports team member.

The first GSA meeting of the year will be today after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room 366. All are welcome, join us in planning activities for the year.

Do you like to write, debate, and discuss world issues? If so, Model UN might be for you! Model UN will hold a short informational meeting today after school in Room 354. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Emery.

PSAT/NMSQT signup is now available for 9th-11th graders.  The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for juniors.  While 9th and 10th graders may sign up, scores will not be counted for the scholarship.   The due date to sign up is September 9th.  The cost of this test is $18 and cash or checks must be paid in the Guidance Office by Sept 9th.  Any questions? Hey SHS students! The Chess club will be meeting after school from 3:17 to 4:15 in Mr. Hull’s Room (Room 216) on the first and third Fridays of every month to play and teach Chess! Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level! There will be an informational meeting today. We hope to see you there! If you have questions, please contact Mr. Hull or Emily Sharp!

The ultimate frisbee club will meet today after school until 5:00. We will meet in room 521 (Mr. Lowy's room) and then move out into the field to play some games, so dress for the weather and bring water.

Students interested in playing boys basketball there is an open gym schedule for September outside of Coach Crum's room which is room 228. The open gym's are only for students that are not in a fall sport already.

Everyone come out and support the football team tonight. They play SHG at 7 at Southeast Highschool! The theme is Hawaiian! Come out and support! 

Last night the Lady Senators volleyball beat previously undefeated Calvary in straight sets 25-12 25-10. The Senators were led  by Lily Lambert with 8 digs, Megan Becker & Olivia Gumz with 3 aces each. Ruth Becker was the kills leader with 8. The Senators record is now 7-1. JV also won in 2 sets.

The girls golf team finished 7th out of 15 teams at the U-High Invite on Thursday.  Junior Kendall Knauer fired a spectacular round of 78 to tie for 9th place individually.  Seniors Katie Chen and Sidney Miller carded 84 and 89 respectively, and senior Megan Hoffman rounded out the team scoring with a 99.  Nice job ladies.

There will be a meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Mr. Lightfoot’s room (330) next Thursday at 7:45 in the morning. See Mr Lightfoot if you have any questions or are unable to attend.

Freshmen interested in running for Student Council, elections will be next week! You were invited to join a class page on Canvas, more info will be located on there.
