Picture day is coming on Wednesday, September 7th. Order picture packets before pictureday at mylifetouch.com with your student’s school id or this picture day ID — EVTXT2ZQ2.  The Picture Day ID is only valid until the end of the day on picture day. After that, parents will have to wait until the proofs arrive back at the school. Proofs will contain unique access codes that can be used to place orders online. 

If you are interested in volunteering for your community, consider joining the Habitat for Humanity club. There will be an informational meeting held after school on Thursday September 1st in Mr. Lightfoot's room, room 330. You must be 16 or older to volunteer.

If you are interested in having lunch with your friends and playing games like Risk, Cataan, Ticket to Ride, or Axis and Allies you should join Historical Game Club. We meet during both A and B lunches Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Room 328. Everyone is welcome.

The SHS Cheerleaders and the Scarlet Line Poms will be holding a joint youth clinic on September 10th from 9am-11:30am. Any students ages kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to attend the clinic and then perform at the afternoon football game that same day! Registration forms can be found in the main office or on the SHS cheerleading website. You must be registered and paid by September 1st to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Contact Mrs. Dorr or Coach Moscardelli with questions. 

The Feminist Club will have its first meeting Tuesday, August 30th after school in the library.  See Eleanor Stuckey with questions or if you can not make this meeting.

Do you want to help SHS become a more positive and peaceful school?  If so, come join the Be A Senator club. The first meeting will be this Thursday, September 1st, after school in room 160. Hope to see you there!

If you are interested in joining the Capitols Esports program, check out the page posted outside the main office to scan the QR code posted and get started. Tryouts will happen starting next week, so do not delay. If you have any questions, contact coach Dalton McGhiey or speak to an esports team member.

The first GSA meeting of the year will be this Friday after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room 366. All are welcome, join us in planning activities for the year.

If you are interested in writing and are looking for a place to showcase your work, Solon Signature is for you. Join us Thursday after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room. If you are unable to attend stop by room 366 to get added to the Canvas page.

Do you like to write, debate, and discuss world issues? If so, Model UN might be for you! Model UN will hold a short informational meeting on Friday, September 2 after school in Room 354. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Emery.

PSAT/NMSQT signup is now available for 9th-11th graders.  The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for juniors.  While 9th and 10th graders may sign up, scores will not be counted for the scholarship.   The due date to sign up is September 9th.  The cost of this test is $18 and cash or checks must be paid in the Guidance Office by Sept 9th.  Any questions? Congratulations to the girls varsity volleyball team. The Lady Senators finished in 3rd place with a 4-1 record for the weekend at the Lutheran High tournament & moved their season record to 5-1. It was a total team effort. A special congratulations to Ruth Becker who was selected to the all tournament team. The Senators play Riverton tonight at home at 7pm. Come and support your lady Senators .

The soccer team improved to 3 and 1 on the season with a 2-0 victory over Mascoutah. Ian Lamsargis and Evan Carrell scored for the Senators. Joe Brudnak recorded the shut-out.

The Lady Senator Golf Team had a busy weekend.  On Friday the team captured their first tournament title in at least 7 years by winning the Brook Hill Shootout in Rantoul.  Seniors Katie Chen and Sidney Miller fired 83’s to tie for 4th individually, Junior Kendall Knauer shot an 84 to tie for 6th, and Juniors Madelyn Beck and Emma Scheffler carded 92’s to round out the Senator scoring.  On Saturday the team finished 3rd at the Rocket Invite at Lincoln Greens.  Kendall was the top scorer for SHS with an 87 that tied her for 6th individually.

The boys golf team finished 6th place in Edwardsville this weekend.  Peyton Woods led the way for the Senators.  Woods shot 69 both days and earned medalist honors.  Jake Baldin added 73, 77.  James Oh finished with 78, 79.  Bryce Pound rounded out the team with 88, 88.  

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team hosted the SHS Invitational this past weekend.  Congratulations on their team and individual performances.  In the Swiatek Division, Nischi Korrapati claimed the first singles championship while Hayden Thongsithavong finished fourth at fourth singles.  In doubles, Nischi Korrapati and Sheelah Ingebrigtsen placed fifth at first doubles.  For the Gauff Division, Kara Frazier finished fourth at first singles, Caroline Scherschel claimed fourth at third singles, Shelva Sewavi finished second at fourth singles and Asianna Johnson finished fourth at sixth singles.  At first doubles, Nora Jasim and Tetee Jallah finished second while Eva Nagel and Raina Jackson finished fifth at third doubles.  Congratulations to all the girls on an outstanding performance for their first meet of the season!
