¡Atención! Spanish Club will be meeting at Xochimilco on March 27th at 5 pm! If you are interested in attending, talk to Señor Reichert in Room 260 and pay the $5 deposit, which will be reimbursed. Spots are limited, so it will be on a first-come, first-served basis!
The Seal of Biliteracy exam will be administered in the library the morning of Tuesday, March 25. Students who registered to take the exam should report to the library at 8:24.
Interested in a job for the summer or beyond? A Youth Career Fair will be held by the district and local employers the afternoon of March 25 at the Crowne Plaza. Some employers hired students on the spot last year, others left with applications in! Permission slips are available in Guidance Office and in Mr. Kramer's Office in 153A. Jostens will deliver graduation announcements and tankards during A and B lunch on Thursday, March 27th and before school on Friday, March 28th.
The Springfield Public Schools’ Board of Education invites interested incoming high school seniors to apply to become the 2025-2026 Student Representative to the Board of Education. One incoming senior will be chosen to serve as the Student Representative during the upcoming school year. Attention future Senators: On Wednesday, March 26th, SHS is hosting our Spring Activities Night. This is for 8th graders and their parents to visit us in the Commons from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Meet coaches, sponsors and staff and learn about options for sports, clubs and activities next year. Try out for the 2025-26 Scarlet Line Dance Team! There is a mandatory parent informational meeting on Wednesday, April 2nd at 5:00 p.m. in Commons. The try-outs are April 7 and April 8 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the SHS gym. Pick up a packet in the main office or find more info on the Scarlet Line social media page.
Anyone interested in playing volleyball next season, there will be a short meeting after school @ 2:30 Wednesday March 26th in the cafeteria.

The Girls Track and Field team competed in a quad meet at Williamsville last night. Top finishers for SHS were: Malorie Harris finished 3rd in the 200; Anamarie Kren finished 4th in the 800; Sarah Nguyen and Justice Moore finished 2nd and 3rd in the 60 Hurdles; the 4x200 relay team of Alaysia Reese Arryia Foster, Sa’Nya Frazier, and Nylah Mcgrone finished 5th; the 4x400 relay team of Katie Benning, Isabella Bradley, Canaya Beverly and Keziah Toran finished 2nd; Jayla Lesso finished 4th in the shot put; Sanaii Bryant and Kendall Johnson tied for 2nd in the high jump; and Katie Benning finished 4th in the triple jump. The girls next compete at the Normal West Indoor Invite TODAY at Illinois Wesleyan.
The Boys Track and Field Team competed in a quad meet at Williamsville last night. Top finishers for SHS were: Mekhi Newman finished 1st in the 200 and 2nd in the 400; Deandre Brown finished 3rd in the 400; Farhan Faizel and Clayton Borah finished 2nd and 3rd in the 800; DJ Peeler finished 3rd in the 1600; Sam Batterman and Blake Schmitt finished 2nd and 3rd in the 3200; Micah Bonansinga finished 3rd in the 60 Hurdles and 3rd in the triple jump; Kale Thurman finished 3rd in the high jump; Jaiyden Wilson finished in 1st place in both the 60 and the triple jump; the 4x400 relay team of Robert Atanda, Richawn Crawford, Deanthony Brown and Jamel Battie finished 2nd; and the 4x800 relay team of Jake Tolsdorf, Oliver Havey, Finn Murphy, and Alex Ratz finished 2nd. Senior Jaiyden Wilson broke the indoor school record in the 60 dash and currently ranks 8th overall in class 3A in the state of Illinois! The boys next compete on Friday at the Edwardsville indoor invite.
The Senator Hockey team has made it to the AHAI final four semifinals for state championship in their division! The final four teams are SHG vs Pekin playing this Saturday 3/15 at 12:30 and then SHS Senators vs Bloomington Sharks later the same day, Saturday 3/15 at 2:10 pm at the Grossinger Motor Arena in Bloomington.
