Good morning, Springfield High!  Today is _____Sept 16th___________________




  • Attention all plant lovers. Plant club will have their first meeting of the year on Tuesday from 3:25 to 4:25 in Ms. Reinders room 516. Everyone is welcome! See Ms. Reinders if you have any questions.


  • Senators show respect for our school by keeping it tidy and following building procedures to keep our building safe. This week make sure you clean up after yourself in the cafeteria and follow proper procedures at the metal detectors, stairways and other common areas of the building. Have a good week Senators!


  • Are you interested in dancing at halftime for basketball games and City Tournament? The Scarlet Line dance team will be having winter tryouts on October 22 and 23 from 3:45-4:45pm in the SHS Commons. Tryout packet information is available to pick up in the main office. 


  • Good morning, Senators! We are excited to announce that the SHS Book Club is back! Our first meeting will be this Tuesday, September 17th. We will meet in Ms. Negele’s room 362, from 3:30-4:30. We will be discussing our plans for this upcoming year and picking out our first book! Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you on Tuesday! 


  • Art club will meet in room 320 on Tuesday until 4:15


  • There will be a meeting for anyone interested in finding out our spring musical on Thursday, September 19th right after school in the ART ROOM (room 233)!! Anyone interested in participating in ANY WAY -- acting, backstage, orchestra -- is encouraged to attend!


  • Scholastic bowl will begin practices Tuesday Sept 17 in room 366 directly afterschool until 5:00. If you are unable to attend please let Mrs. Eaton or Ethan Baima know. We are looking forward to a brilliant season.


  • The cross country team competed at the Lanphier Invite on Saturday at Lincoln Park.  Ava Fultz was the top finisher for SHS in the JV girls race.  Mia Volpert led the way in the Varsity girls race. In the JV Boys race DJ Peeler and Blake Schmitt both finished in the top 10, and Kishan Ugrappa led the Varsity boys to a 6th place finish out of 17 teams.  The team next competes at the Peoria Notre Dame Invite on Saturday. 


  • The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team played at the Herrin Invitational this past weekend with Madisyn Williams claiming a second place finish at first singles.  Additionally, the doubles team of Valentina Osgood/Hayden Thongsithavong finished 1-2.


  • The Girls’ swimming and diving team competed in the 12 team Capital City Invitational on Saturday.  Reese Jennings placed 6th in diving.  Lilly Allen, Mary O’Brien, Abby Myers, and Chloe Scheffler teamed up to place 8th in the 200 medley relay and 7th in the 400 free relay.  Natasha O’Brien, Mallory Leming, Lila Martin and Abby Myers teamed up to place 10th in the 200 freestyle relay.  Myers placed 7th in the 100 Butterly and Scheffler placed 7th in the 500 freestyle.  Congratulations!


  • The Varsity Girls Volleyball Team finished the Jacksonville Tournament with a 2-2 Record. They Played some Greats teams and were very competitive. We areLooking forward to our next 2 Conference games at Normal U High on Tuesday and Thursday at Home against Lincoln. 



Students, we have had great attendance at our first home football games. But, we want to remind you of the code of conduct. The Code of Conduct and the guidelines of the student handbook apply to all students while on District 186 property, adjacent property or engaged in school-sponsored activities. Any misconduct before, during or after the game will be handled by the administration at the student’s school and will result in consequences. 


Please note that students who are suspended and/or expelled are not permitted to attend school events, including games. If a suspended or expelled student purchases a ticket and is admitted by mistake, they will be required to leave, and no refunds will be issued.


All spectators are expected to remain seated during games. Anyone found standing or roaming for an extended period of time will be asked to sit in the stands, failure to comply will result in being removed from the stadium.  


Also failing to abide by the football stadium expectations may result in you being escorted from the stadium.  If you are escorted from the stadium you will not be allowed to return to future games.


No unaccompanied minors will be allowed entry into games. All K-8th grade students should be with an adult who is responsible for their actions and monitors their movement during the games. They should be sitting watching the games and limit walking around unless using the restroom or visiting the concession stand. Students can not attend without an adult - they will not be allowed entry. 


Football games will conclude around 9:15 p.m., announcements will be made for students to call for their ride at the start of 4th quarter at every game. Please make sure your ride, if needed, is at the stadium to pick you up at that time.


We want to cheer on our teams, have great District 186 spirit and have a good time. Thank you for assisting the Administration and the Springfield Police Department in this manner.
