  • The academic center is available during both lunch shifts in room 264. Get a pass from Ms. Lin or Mrs. Lauer.  


  • PSAT/NMSQT signup is now available for 9th-11th graders.  The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for juniors.  While 9th and 10th graders may sign up, scores will not be counted for the scholarship.   The due date to sign up is September 13th.  The cost of this test is $18 and cash or checks must be paid in the Guidance Office by Sept 13th.  The test will be administered in the morning of October 25th at SHS.  Any questions?   •  "Senior Class Apparel is out now! Flyers will be handed out in your English Class this week. Please turn in cash or checks to Mrs. Emery in room 354 or Mrs. Taft in room 356. Forms are due Friday, Sept. 13th. See the class Canvas page for color images and forms as well!"

  • Hallo zusammen! The SHS Deutschklub will be having its first meeting, the Gummy Bear Olympics, Thursday, September 12th, in room 250. There will be gummy bears, German music, and lots of fun! Make sure to bring $5 to join. If you have any questions, stop by room 250. 


  • Are you interested in building community amongst the high schools and developing your leadership skills? Do you want to contribute to being a voice for students? Then the Superintendent’s Student Roundtable may be for you! The Roundtable is open to all high school students in District 186. Come to our first monthly meeting next Wednesday, September 11, from 3-4pm in the PD Room of the Administrative Center, 3063 Fiat Ave. to learn more! 



  • Freshmen, if you are interested in running for student council or class officer you MUST pick up a packet outside the Guidance office during your lunch shift. Mr. Kramer, Ms. Troike are some of the officers will be there to give you information and help answer any questions. Check out the Canvas message for more. 


  • Art Club will be meeting in room 320 on Tuesday, September 10 until 4:15. 


  • Senators show respect to others by thinking before they act or speak. This week, before you say or do something, ask yourself, “Would I like it if this was done or said to me?” If the answer is no, then don't follow through with it.  Have a great week Senators!


  • Are you interested in a small time investment and impactful results volunteer opportunity join Pen in the Box for its first meeting of the year. Wednesday morning 7:50 in Mrs. Eaton’s room. Donuts will be provided!



  • The SHS football team defeated Decatur MacArthur on Friday night by a score of 21-7. Armanze Lewis and Brody Scheffler both scored touchdowns on the ground, while Scheffler and Dre Brown hooked up for a score through the air. Defensively, the Senators were led in tackles by Richard Stults, Keyshaun Harris, and Bryce Bryant. Jack Unverzagt added a clutch 4th quarter interception to ice the game. The Senators will look to move their record to 3-0 when they take on Lanphier this Friday at Memorial Stadium.


  • The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team cruised to a 7-2 victory over Bloomington High School yesterday in its first dual meet of the season. In singles action, Madisyn Williams, Valentina Osgood, Hayden Thongsithavong, Sophia Bommarito and Zoey Thongsithavong were victorious. While at doubles, the teams of Valentina Osgood/Hayden Thongsithavong and Annah Sharp/Caroline Scherschel won.

  • In Junior Varsity play, the girls won 6-1 with victories by the doubles teams of Jadyn Mangold/Chelsea DeKock, Sophia Bommarito/Jackie Reed, Annabelle Harris/Madison Bradley, Simone Dolan/Gianna Dolan, Taylor Ratts/Kalea Bender and Makenna Higgins/Charmi Modi.

  • The varsity soccer team finished in second place at the Urbana Invitational last weekend. The Senators defeated Bradley Bourbonnais 3-1 and Mascouthan 4-2. The Senators fell in PK’s to Champion Peoria Christian.

Evan Carrell, Parker Hinds, Gavin Oyler, Bruno Rosas and JP Pagliara scored for the Senators over the weekend. Jeffrey Strum had strong performances in goal. Evan Carrell and Faron Harmony earned All-Tournament honors.


  • The JV football team improve to 2-0 with an 18-12 victory over Decatur MacArthur Monday night. For the Senator offense the Noahs were the key. Noah Puckett got the scoring going with a TD catch from Kam Parson early in the game and Noah Wade put the Senators ahead for good with a TD catch in both the third and the game winning one in the fourth. One catch came from Parson again and the other from freshmen Andrew Benning. When the offense needed a big play Richawn Crawford stepped up running the ball to multiple first downs and bigtime rushes. The defense anchored by Jack Wright remained strong all game causing multiple turnovers. Jacob Greco came down with what might have been a game winning tackle late in the contest, keeping the Generals offense from a big score. SHS now sets their eyes on going 2-0 against their city school counterparts over the next two weeks. 




Students, we have had great attendance at our first home football games. But, we want to remind you of the code of conduct. The Code of Conduct and the guidelines of the student handbook apply to all students while on District 186 property, adjacent property or engaged in school-sponsored activities. Any misconduct before, during or after the game will be handled by the administration at the student’s school and will result in consequences. 


Please note that students who are suspended and/or expelled are not permitted to attend school events, including games. If a suspended or expelled student purchases a ticket and is admitted by mistake, they will be required to leave, and no refunds will be issued.


All spectators are expected to remain seated during games. Anyone found standing or roaming for an extended period of time will be asked to sit in the stands, failure to comply will result in being removed from the stadium.  


Also failing to abide by the football stadium expectations may result in you being escorted from the stadium.  If you are escorted from the stadium you will not be allowed to return to future games.


No unaccompanied minors will be allowed entry into games. All K-8th grade students should be with an adult who is responsible for their actions and monitors their movement during the games. They should be sitting watching the games and limit walking around unless using the restroom or visiting the concession stand. Students can not attend without an adult - they will not be allowed entry. 


Football games will conclude around 9:15 p.m., announcements will be made for students to call for their ride at the start of 4th quarter at every game. Please make sure your ride, if needed, is at the stadium to pick you up at that time.


We want to cheer on our teams, have great District 186 spirit and have a good time. Thank you for assisting the Administration and the Springfield Police Department in this manner.
