  • Morning announcement: Any girl interested in playing girls golf this year, please stop by Room #264 to talk to Coach Scheffler. 


  • Esports tryouts are this week! If you are interested in trying out for the esports team, click the link for the sign up form found on the school website by going to your school, athletics page, then esports. You can also scan a QR code seen on flyers throughout the school. All tryouts happen in person at Lanphier. For a full schedule of tryouts, please go to the tryout form!

  • Welcome to the SHS Peace Room! The Peace Room is a safe and calm space for any student to utilize for many kinds of support that may be needed. Mrs. Coley is a mental health clinician here at SHS to support you. The Peace Room is a student resource during the hours of 11AM-12:30, and again 1pm-2pm If you are needing emotional support, feeling overwhelmed and needing a break, or for any mental health resources you may need connected with, Please stop into room 157 during Peace Room Hours for an introduction to the Peace Room and to meet Mrs. Coley for any questions you may have!

A link and QR Code on CANVAS will allow you to check in to utilize the Peace Room if you are in class or at lunch. You will be asked a few questions upon checking in, in order to best assist you. Peace Room is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 11a-12:30 and 1p-2p

  • The academic center is available during both lunch shifts.  Students can go to room 128 any day of the week for tutoring during lunch.


  • Model UN will meet on Today in room 354 from 3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. New members are welcome! If you have any questions, see Mrs. Emery.


  • Attention students who drive to school.  There is no student parking in the lot directly across Washington Street from the school.  That lot is for staff parking only.  Students vehicles that are parked in that lot will be towed.  There is also no student parking in the Visitors Parking lot across Lewis street, or the first row on the lot adjacent to the Visitor's Parking Lot.   The first row of that lot is also for staff parking only.  Students who have purchased a parking pass can park in the rest of that lot or in the other two lots that you were given when you purchased your permit.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Barnes.


  • Students, this is a reminder that prior to the 8:15 bell, unless you have a 0 hour class, you must be in the Commons or the Cafeteria.  There should not be any students hanging out in hallways, or at lockers, or hanging out in restrooms prior to the 8:15 bell.  Teachers, no students have been given permission to be hanging out in hallways, using lockers, or hanging out in the restroom.  If you see them, please direct them to the Commons or the Cafeteria.

  • The Ultimate Frisbee Club will have an informational meeting this Friday, August 30th in room 521 at 3:30. All are welcome and no experience is needed. If you have and questions talk to Mr. Lowy in room 521


  • “Are you interested in getting involved with your community? Do you want to learn about various identities and work with local community leaders to create an authentic platform of expression? Join the International Union this Thursday, in room 225, for the student initiative aiming to create a more united learning environment for all within and beyond the classroom. We hope to see you there!”


  • Everything is awesome in room 324. The SHS movie club will be showing the Lego movie from September 3rd to 4th. If you would like to eat your lunch while watching a good movie, go to room 324 to get a pass from Mr. Faires today. 


  • There will be an informational meeting for Robotics in Mr. Sutera's room, room WW5, Thursday Sept. 5th after school.


  • Our first field trips of the year are here. Two trips will take place the third week of September. 

First, if you are interested in Nursing specifically, but also other Healthcare professions a group will be going to UIS to tour their Nursing and Healthcare career center on Sept. 17th.

Second, LLCC will host their workplace expo and lineman rodeo. This event is interested for those looking to go into the trades or possibly just work immediately after high school. Groups will be there with hiring information and opportunities.

  • The soccer team fell 2-1 to Father McGiveny last night. Evan Carrell scored on an assist from Gavin Oylert.
