The baseball team lost a 5 to nothing contest against Jacksonville last night, as they struggled offensively against a strong pitching effort from the Crimsons. Seth Impson and Ethan Rutter had the only SHS hits for the day, although the defense was outstanding in making no errors behind their 4 pitchers. Brody Scheffler started the game strong, but ran into a tough inning. Enrico Veach, Tyler Elliott, and A.J. Ozier all did fine jobs in relief to keep the Senators within striking distance, but the Crimson pitching held the offense at bay for the duration of the game. Next up is a Friday doubleheader in Bartonville against Limestone.

The Springfield High School Boys Junior Varsity Tennis Team hosted Taylorville yesterday and claimed several victories at doubles, including Butch Cross/Morris Fairlee, John Eichinger/Leo Sommers, Sricharan Thuppal/Mox Amin and Hasan Asad/John Eichinger.  Good job by everyone who played.

The soccer team defeated Southeast 11-0 last night to advance to the regional final on Friday. Kamryn Hoffman and Bridget Lyons scored 3 goals. Meredith Gums added 2 goals while Madison Clark, Kalyn Burton and Simone Dolan scored a goal. Addesynne Sawyer recorded the shut-out.
