Students, If you're not feeling well during school hours, please visit the nurse's office instead of texting your parent directly to go home. Our nurse will then assess your condition and contact your parent for you. Reminder that phones are not allowed during class time. Not following this procedure creates a disruption for many offices as well as adults in the building. Thanks for following the procedure that is in place and helping to keep the school running smoothly!
Students who ride the CACC morning bus. The buses will be leaving the school at 8:10 am every morning. Don’t be late getting on your bus.
After School Tutoring is held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week in room 160 from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm
Lunchtime tutoring is available for any student on either lunch shift in room 124.
If you park on or near SHS property - LOCK YOUR CARS AT ALL TIMES. Do not leave your doors unlocked or windows down no matter what! Be safe, be smart and be aware!

Any SHS student who signed up for the Seal of Biliteracy test will sit for the exam during periods 5 through 7 on Wednesday, March 27th. The State Seal of Biliteracy recognizes graduates who have attained proficiency in English and another world language. This Seal is designated on transcripts and diplomas. LLCC and the U of I system are hosting a Transfer Exploration night on Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 pm at LLCC. If you are wanting to complete two years of college at LLCC and then look to transfer after, this is a perfect event to go learn about opportunities and expectations. Registration info is on Canvas and on the flyer outside Mr. Kramer's office.
Entrepreneurship students will be selling their SHS products during lunch in the commons all week. They have hoodies, t-shirts, cups, wristbands, hats, sweatpants, and can koozies. Prices range from $3-$30. We accept cash or check only.
There will be a GSA meeting on Friday, March 22 from 3:30-4:30 pm in Mrs. Eaton’s room 366.
Scarlet Line Dance Team tryouts for the 24/25 season are being held next week in the gym March 25, 26 and 27 at 4:00 pm. All proceeds go to the Class of 2026 prom— so you can help ensure you have a memorable prom while rocking snazzy Spirit Wear. Pick up order forms from Ms Negele in room 362— all orders are due Monday, March 25.
The girls track & field team competed at the Southwest Illinois Relays this weekend. Second place finishers were Shelva in the shot put, Sanaii, Jayla, Taloo and Zyon in the freshman 4x200 and Tyonna, Aleyah, Sanaii and Gianna in the freshman 4x400. Third place finishers were Nykayla in the shot put, Imani, Sariean, Keziah and Angel in the varsity 4x200. Sarah, Keziah, Tazariyah and Isabella in the JV 4x400. Ashlee, Imani, Katie and Legacy in the varsity 4x400. Grace, Abby, Makenna and Ava in the JV 4x800 and Josie, Nola, Mary and Kayden in the varsity 4x800.
Congrats to the students for beating the staff by two points in overtime in the thrilling student v. staff game last night. Kudos to the staff for a hard fought game. Thank you to the players, volunteers, custodians, administrators, fans, and everyone who made the game a success! We raised over $500 for our yearbook program, which will allow us to add extra pages to make this year’s yearbook amazing.
Looking for an exciting traveling opportunity in the summer of 2025? Mr. Telger and Mr. Lightfoot will be taking a trip with EF Tours in June of 2025 to Greece and Rome. This trip was originally filled up, but we have opened up additional spots on a first come first serve basis. If you are interested, there will be a short meeting this Thursday in the Commons at 6:00 PM to give more detail about the trip. If you can’t make the meeting, please stop by and see Mr. Telger or Mr. Lightfoot.
