Students who ride the CACC morning bus.  The buses will be leaving the school at 8:10 am every morning.  Don’t be late getting on your bus.

After School Tutoring is held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week in room 160 from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm

Lunchtime tutoring is available for any student on either lunch shift in room 124.

If you park on or near SHS property - LOCK YOUR CARS AT ALL TIMES. Do not leave your doors unlocked or windows down no matter what! Be safe, be smart and be aware!

Any students in 9th -11th grade who are interested in participating in a sport during the 2024-2025 school year, should find and complete the athletic interest survey on CANVAS.  This will allow coaches to know who is interested in joining a team, and get you information regarding summer programming and weight-lifting.

Try-outs for the girls soccer team will be through Friday, March 1st 3:45-5:15 pm. The try-outs will be held at New Street field. Student will need an updated physical and athletic permit card to participate.

SHS Showchoir Program had a wonderful time at the 1st Annual Blue Devil Dance Party Showchoir Invitational in Peotone, IL!  Congratulations to Scarlet Harmony, receiving 2nd Runner-up in the Single-Gender Division, with Arielle Boswell (sophomore) receiving Best Performer in a show!  Congratulations to IN Session, receiving 3rd Runner-up in the Festival Division, with Grant Kesler (Junior) receiving Best Performer in a show!  Special shout out to Paige Manning, receiving 1st Runner-up in the solo contest! Paige was Top 3 soloists out 32! Paige was honored by singing her solo in front of a packed house before Preliminary Awards!  Our next and  final competition will be Saturday, March 9th at the Quincy HS Showcase of Excellence! 

The Booster Club would like to thank Chelsea Dekock, Simone Dolan, Alex Hockenyos, Mallory Leming, Brooke Lyons, Josh Stanley, and Jeffrey Sturm for volunteering at Saturday's Red & Black fundraiser!  They all worked tirelessly to make the event successful and run smoothly - thank you!

There will be a GSA meeting Friday after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room 366.

The acclaimed Chicago Defender known for its integral part in the Great Migration Movement during WW1 was founded by the cutting-edge African-American attorney and newspaper the proprietor Robert Abbott. Throughout a period of war and racial injustice, he used his newspaper to fight for economic empowerment and civil rights, influencing future generations and rewriting the history of African Americans. Through this newspaper, not only did it empower the black community through times of national disparities, but mobilized and unified communities across the country into a collective, powerful, force. 

Seniors, the deadline for the CFLL scholarships is Friday! Please do not miss opportunities to apply for these scholarships! 

District 186 schools competed on Wednesday for the Black History Month history bowel championship and SHS wrapped up back to back wins in the event by bringing home first place again this year! SHS doubled up the next closest team and were dominate from start to finish. Great job BHU!
