Good morning, Springfield High!  Today is February 26, 2024 Attendance Office Phone Number - 525-3111 Students who ride the CACC morning bus.  The buses will be leaving the school at 8:10 am every morning.  Don’t be late getting on your bus. After School Tutoring is held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week in room 160 from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm Lunchtime tutoring is available for any student on either lunch shift in room 124. If you park on or near SHS property - LOCK YOUR CARS AT ALL TIMES. Do not leave your doors unlocked or windows down no matter what! Be safe, be smart and be aware!

 

Students – we have an abundance of items in the lost and found in the back of room 169. If you are missing lost items, please check the pile before Friday, March 1st as we will donate all items to those in need. You may check for lost items before or after school as passes will not be given during the day.

 

The Booster Club would like to thank Chelsea Dekock, Simone Dolan, Alex Hockenyos, Mallory Leming, Brooke Lyons, Josh Stanley, and Jeffrey Sturm for volunteering at Saturday's Red & Black fundraiser!  They all worked tirelessly to make the event successful and run smoothly - thank you! Any students in 9th -11th grade who are interested in participating in a sport during the 2024-2025 school year, should find and complete the athletic interest survey on CANVAS.  This will allow coaches to know who is interested in joining a team, and get you information regarding summer programming and weight-lifting. Try-outs for the girls soccer team will be today through Friday, March 1st 3:45-5:15 pm. The try-outs will be held at New Street field. Student will need an updated physical and athletic permit card to participate.

The boys track and field team began their season on Saturday at the Normal West Indoor Invite in Bloomington.  Medalists for SHS were: Clayton Borah, 5th in the 800; Sam Batterman, 5th in the 3200; the fresh soph 4x400 relay team of Christopher Taylor, Kai Rinaberger, Farhan Faizel, and Jacob Greco placed 5th; Alex Ratz finished 2nd in the fresh/soph 1600; Byron McNeil finished 2nd in the triple jump, and the fresh soph 4x800 relay team of DJ Peeler, Kai Rinaberger, Clayton Borah, and Ben Walden finished in 1st place!  The boys next compete at Williamsville on Tuesday March 5th.

Interested in joining the boys tennis team for the 2023-24 season?  Please plan to attend an introductory team meeting today from 3:30-4:30pm in the Auditorium. If you are unable to attend, please contact Coach Ingebrigtsen.

Senators show self-respect by taking a break each day to do a preferred activity. So whether it’s walking outside, baking, shooting hoops, or just hanging around friends, taking a break for just 15 minutes can make a huge difference in how you feel. Even though February is coming to a close, BAS encourages you to keep practicing self-care all year long!

There will be no 21st century today or Wednesday, February 28th. Future Teachers Club will meet tomorrow from 3:30-4:30 in room 370. At this meeting, we will have a special guest speaker. Come learn from an experienced educator in the district. All are welcome - hope to see you there! Hey readers and besties! Book Club is meeting today to discuss our latest read— The Love Hypothesis! We will also share suggestions and vote on our next book. Everyone is invited— if you have read this book, want to read this book, need book suggestions or just like hanging out with fellow book dragons, Book Club is the place to be! We’ll see you on Monday in Ms. Negele’s room (362) from 3:30-4:15. 

 

SHS Showchoir Program had a wonderful time at the 1st Annual Blue Devil Dance Party Showchoir Invitational in Peotone, IL! 

 

Congratulations to Scarlet Harmony, receiving 2nd Runner-up in the Single-Gender Division, with Arielle Boswell (sophomore) receiving Best Performer in a show!

 

Congratulations to IN Session, receiving 3rd Runner-up in the Festival Division, with Grant Kesler (Junior) receiving Best Performer in a show! 

 

Special shout out to Paige Manning, receiving 1st Runner-up in the solo contest! Paige was Top 3 soloists out 32! Paige was honored by singing her solo in front of a packed house before Preliminary Awards!!

 

Our next and  final competition will be Saturday, March 9th at the Quincy HS Showcase of Excellence!  And now the Pledge of Allegiance!
