After School Tutoring is held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week in room 160 from 3:30 pm- 4:30 pm.

Lunchtime tutoring is available for any student on either lunch shift in room 124.

If you want to purchase single game, season, or year long passes to Springfield High School events, keep your eyes open for Go Fan Ticketing posters in the Commons, Cafeteria and Annex.  You can scan the QR Code, or go to GoFan.com to purchase you SHS tickets today.

We have started AP exam sign-ups.  There are two steps to sign up for the AP Exams.  First, students need to join each AP course on myap.collegeboard.org and register for the exam.  Second, students will need to sign-up/pay in Guidance.   The due date to order an exam is Monday, November 6th.  After this date, there will be a $40 late sign-up fee.  Exams will begin in May of 2024.  Each exam is $97. Cash or check will be accepted in Guidance.  Checks can be made out to Springfield High School.  There is a reduced price for eligible students.  Questions? Attention sophomores, the Capital Area Career Center (CACC) is hosting a Career Day on November 17th for 10th-grade students. If you are considering attending CACC next year, this field trip may interest you. Those interested in attending should pick up a permission slip from the guidance office.  Forms are due by November 9th. There are a limited number of spaces on the bus, so don’t wait to get permission slips turned in.  Please see the Class of ’26 Canvas page for more details.

Attention artistic Solons! The yearbook staff needs your help to design music-related graphics (full-page, no music notes). If you submit a design, you may be featured in this year's yearbook! Please e-mail your designs to Mrs. Roan or submit them in-person to room 370 by Nov. 1. All submissions will be entered into a raffle for a free yearbook. Submissions must be school appropriate. See Mrs. Roan or any yearbook staffer with any questions. 

If you park on or near SHS property - LOCK YOUR CARS AT ALL TIMES. Do not leave your doors unlocked or windows down no matter what! Be safe, be smart and be aware!

The SHS football program is participating in the Channel 1450 food drive for those in need within the greater Springfield community. The goal is to fit as much as we can into a trailer for delivery today. Any student or faculty member who would like to donate to this worthy cause can drop off items to Coach Hebb or Coach Kramer any time this week. 

Freshmen & JV volleyball players need to turn in their uniforms to Coach Sturm today after school in the gym.

Attention girl basketball players not involved in a fall sport: there will be a short informational meeting regarding tryouts on Wednesday after school in Room #264. Any questions, please see Coach Scheffler.

Senators show respect for our school by keeping it tidy and following building procedures to keep our building safe. This week make sure you clean up after yourself in the cafeteria and follow proper procedures at the metal detectors, stairways and other common areas of the building. Be Safe, Be Proud, Be A Senator!

GSA is hosting a showing of the Corpse Bride Friday after school. Snacks provided.

The girls swimming and diving placed fourth in the CS8 conference meet on Saturday. Reese Jennings placed fifth in diving, Mia Heinzel placed 6th in diving. Lila Martin placed 6th in the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke, Mary O’Brien placed 6th in the 50 free, Abby myers placed 2nd in the 200 free and 4th in the 500 free. The relay team of abby myers, Elizabeth sievers, Lila Martin and Mary O’Brien placed 5th in the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay. 

The feminist club is hosting a viewing of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown tomorrow after school in room 366.

There is a German club meeting today after school! It will be Halloween-themed, filled with fun spooky stories and games! We hope to see you there!

The boys and girls cross country teams competed in the regional meet at Alton on Saturday. Both teams advanced to sectionals! The girls were led by Mia Volpert, and the boys top placer was Alex Ratz! The teams compete Saturday at the Granite City sectional! 

For anyone interested in FCA, there will be a meeting this Thursday at 7:40 am in Mr. Lightfoot's room. If you have any questions, ask Mr. Lightfoot or Sam Hartl.

The soccer team defeated Glenwood 2-1 Saturday in the Regional Championship. Evan Carrell score from an assist from Vince Pratt. Eamon Mahoney scored the game winner as Byron McNeil and Ty Dyson recorded the assists. The team will play Champaign Central on Tuesday 7pm at Rochester in the Sectional Semifinal.
