After School Tutoring begins today.  After School Tutoring is held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week in room 160 from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Students, please remember that the football games at Memorial Stadium and Spartan Field are school functions and all behavior guidelines will be enforced at all times during these games. Any inappropriate behavior displayed at these games will result in consequences that will be enforced by the administration of SHS. This includes behavior inside the stadium, as well as adjacent to the facility. 

Students, if you want to purchase single game, season, or year long passes to Springfield High School events, keep your eyes open for Go Fan Ticketing posters in the Commons, Cafeteria and Annex.  You can scan the QR Code, or go to GoFan.com to purchase you SHS tickets today.

It's a wonderful week to go to some games! 
We have Volleyball City tournament this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday! Check the Student Council Instagram for more info: @shs.studco! 
And on Friday, we go against the School Down the Street at an away game at 7 pm. The theme is FRAT! So come dressed as a Brad, Chad, or even a Todd!
Freshmen! To those newly elected to Student Council- there is a meeting tonight that starts at 7 pm! If you have any questions, ask Ms. Troike or Mr. Kramer.

Lunchtime tutoring is available for any student on either lunch shift in room 124.

Juniors and Seniors - are you interested in healthcare careers? St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois is offering an after school program to teach high school students about nurses and their community. There are 12 Wednesday night sessions spread throughout October, November, December, February, March and April. Sessions will take place at St. John’s simulation Center from  4:30-7:30 p.m. Students must have their own transportation. Dinner is provided on class nights. If you are interested, you must apply. luxefloralspringfield.net is offering SHS special Homecoming corsages for students - if you buy the wrist corsage, the boutineers are free. Luxe Floral will drop off the flowers at SHS on the day before the September 30th Homecoming Dance.

The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. A link to the application can be found on each high school’s website.  Returning members are asked to complete the form, also. Those that complete the application should watch their ROOMS app for information about the first meeting.

Robotics will an informational meeting today at 3:30 in room 110. 

The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 30th at SHS from 7-9 pm. If you are bringing a guest from another school, homecoming guest forms are available in the guidance office. Remember, all guests must be under 21 and have a picture ID at the door, in addition to having the guest form filled out entirely. Guest forms are due back in the guidance office by Thursday, September 28th at 3:30 p.m.

Achtung! Achtung! The first German club meeting of the school year will be held today from 3:30 to 5:00! Everyone is welcome! We hope to see you there!

Hey SHS students! The Chess club will be meeting after school from 3:17 to 4:15 in Mr. Hull’s Room (Room 216) on the first and third Fridays of every month to play and teach Chess! Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level! There will be an informational meeting Friday, September 15th. We hope to see you there! This week’s kindness tip is brought to you by BAS. Senators can show kindness by helping others. This week, if you see someone in need, ask them if they are okay and do what you can to help. A little kindness can really make a big difference in someone’s day. 

Join French Club!  Anyone can join for $5—see Madame Boltz in Room 268.  We will be having our first event this Thursday, the 21st, after school.

Attention SHS athletes and students involved in extracurricular activities. Fellowship of Christian Athletes meetings will be starting soon. To help decide when meetings will be, fill out the form from the QR codes posted on the fliers around the school. If you have any questions ask Mr. Lightfoot or Sam Hartl. 

The cross country team competed at the Peoria Notre Dame invite on Saturday. The Varsity girls were led by Mia Volpert. The freshman/sophomore girls were led by Phoebe Barnes. In the varsity boys race, the top finisher for SHS was Lucas Schmitt. In the freshman/sophomore boys race, DJ Peeler was the top placer. The teams next compete at Lincoln Park Saturday in the SHS invite. The races begin at 9:45 am! Come out and support the XC team! 

The  varsity soccer team defeated Beardstown 8-1 on Saturday. Bruno Rosas, Evan Carrell, Gavin Oyler and Mason Simmons scored for the Senators.  The Sophomore team won the Chatham Invite defeating Quincy 4-0, Jacksonville 4-0, and Chatham 3-0. Great Job!!
