Students, please remember that the football games at Memorial Stadium and Spartan Field are school functions and all behavior guidelines will be enforced at all times during these games. Any inappropriate behavior displayed at these games will result in consequences that will be enforced by the administration of SHS. This includes behavior inside the stadium, as well as adjacent to the facility. 

Students, if you want to purchase single game, season, or year long passes to Springfield High School events, keep your eyes open for Go Fan Ticketing posters in the Commons, Cafeteria and Annex.  You can scan the QR Code, or go to GoFan.com to purchase you SHS tickets today.

Lunchtime tutoring is available for any student on either lunch shift in room 124.

Juniors and Seniors - are you interested in healthcare careers? St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois is offering an after school program to teach high school students about nurses and their community. There are 12 Wednesday night sessions spread throughout October, November, December, February, March and April. Sessions will take place at St. John’s simulation Center from  4:30-7:30 p.m. Students must have their own transportation. Dinner is provided on class nights. If you are interested, you must apply. luxefloralspringfield.net is offering SHS special Homecoming corsages for students - if you buy the wrist corsage, the boutineers are free. Luxe Floral will drop off the flowers at SHS on the day before the September 30th Homecoming Dance.

The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. A link to the application can be found on each high school’s website.  Returning members are asked to complete the form, also. Those that complete the application should watch their ROOMS app for information about the first meeting.

If you still need to pick up your 2022-2023 yearbook, please stop by room 370 right after school any day this week. We want to get all the yearbooks out this week! You can also purchase yearbooks at that time - we have a few copies left.

There will be open mats for boys and girls wrestling after school tomorrow from 3:30-5:00 pm.

Hot dogs are hot again! We will again grill hotdogs for $1 today during both lunch shifts. Hot dogs are only available out of the front lawn! Proceeds will again be added to our school donations to the Reid and Scheffler families. 

Robotics will an informational meeting on Monday the 18th at 3:30 in room 110. 

The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 30th at SHS from 7-9 pm. If you are bringing a guest from another school, homecoming guest forms are available in the guidance office. Remember, all guests must be under 21 and have a picture ID at the door, in addition to having the guest form filled out entirely. Guest forms are due back in the guidance office by Thursday, September 28th at 3:30 p.m.

Achtung! Achtung! The first German club meeting of the school year will be held this Monday the 18th from 3:30 to 5:00! Everyone is welcome! We hope to see you there!

Atención, Spanish Club! We are having our first movie event today @ 3:30 after school in Room 260! Interested in joining? Grab a form from Señor Reichert, the fee is $5! ¡Gracias!

The girls golf team beat Chatham and Lincoln but lost to SHG in a match at Lincoln Elks. Leading SHS was Kendall Knauer with a 43, Emma Scheffler and Madelyn Beck tied with a 45, and Abygail Woudenberg rounded out the scoring with a 49. Good job ladies.

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team traveled to Lincoln Community High School yesterday and came away with a 5-4 victory.  At singles, Sophia Bommarito, Alexis Snyder and Kiersten Hutchins won.  In doubles action, the team of Madison Bradley/Taylor Ratts claimed a victory while the team of Maria Anselment/Kara Frazier won a heated match to help clinch the overall team win. Congratulations and great job girls!

City Champs!!!!!  The boys golf team defeated SHG last night for the city title!  Leading the way and becoming the city champion was Julian Valenti.  James Oh also helped the team and placed 3rd overall.  The boys travel to Pekin tomorrow.  Congrats guys!!!  

Crochet Club will meet today an after school in Mrs. Weller’s room. 

Hey SHS students! The Chess club will be meeting after school from 3:17 to 4:15 in Mr. Hull’s Room (Room 216) on the first and third Fridays of every month to play and teach Chess! Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level! There will be an informational meeting Friday, September 15th. We hope to see you there!
