Students, please remember that the football games at Memorial Stadium and Spartan Field are school functions and all behavior guidelines will be enforced at all times during these games. Any inappropriate behavior displayed at these games will result in consequences that will be enforced by the administration of SHS. This includes behavior inside the stadium, as well as adjacent to the facility.

Lunchtime tutoring is available for any student on either lunch shift in room 124.

High school freshmen interested in becoming a doctor or entering a healthcare profession are encouraged to apply for the P4 physical preparatory physician program. Stop by the guidance office to pick up information about the P4 program.   Applications are due September 6. 

Juniors and Seniors - are you interested in healthcare careers? St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois is offering an after school program to teach high school students about nurses and their community. There are 12 Wednesday night sessions spread throughout October, November, December, February, March and April. Sessions will take place at St. John’s simulation Center from  4:30-7:30 p.m. Students must have their own transportation. Dinner is provided on class nights. If you are interested, you must apply. School Picture Day is Wednesday, September 6th. Any senior who didn’t get pics in August may get pictures taken after dismissal

Scholastic bowl will have an informational meeting Tuesday Sept 5 directly after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room. If you can’t make this meeting stop by or email to get a practice schedule. 

The cafeteria is now offering plant based meals! If you are interested in ordering plant based options each day, email Leardi or talk to Ms. Dee in the cafeteria.

luxefloralspringfield.net is offering SHS special Homecoming corsages for students - if you buy the wrist corsage, the boutineers are free. Luxe Floral will drop off the flowers at SHS on the day before the September 30th Homecoming Dance.

The Superintendent’s Student Roundtable is now accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year. The group provides a forum for youth to strengthen unity between all local high schools, and the community. A link to the application can be found on each high school’s website.  Returning members are asked to complete the form, also. Those that complete the application should watch their ROOMS app for information about the first meeting.

PSAT/NMSQT signup is now available for 9th-11th graders.  The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for juniors.  While 9th and 10th graders may sign up, scores will not be counted for the scholarship.   The due date to sign up is September 11th.  The cost of this test is $18 and cash or checks must be paid in the Guidance Office prior to Sept 9th.  The date of the test is October 25th Any questions? If you would like to eat lunch with your friends and play games like Risk, Axis and Allies, and Ticket to Ride, you should join the Historical Game Club. We meet on Tuesdays. Wednesday’s, and Thursday’s during A and B lunch. We meet in Room 328. Everyone is welcome.

This year Be A Senator Club wants to show you what it really means to "Be A Senator". Each month we will have a different focus and September is Kindness. Senators show kindness with a smile. Smiling is a simple way to spread kindness. This week, challenge yourself to smile at 3 people you don’t know.

Fall play, And Then There Were None,  auditions are this Wed 9/6 in auditorium beginning at 3:30. If you have not selected a time please see Mrs. Eaton before Wed afternoon.

The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team finished fifth at this past weekend's Edwardsville Invitational.  In singles, Nishi Korrapati, Ester Rossi, Myla Shannon, Madisyn WIlliam, Hayden Thongsithavong, Nora Jasim and Maria Anselment claimed victoires.  While in doubles, the teams of Nishi Korrapati/Ester Rossi, Myla Shannon/Madisyn Williams, Kara Frazier/Maria Anselment and Nora Jasim/Hayden Thongsithavong posted wins. Congratulations on their team and individual performances.  

The boys and girls cross country team competed at the Granite City invite on Saturday. The varsity girls team finished in 16th place out of 32 teams and were led by Mia Volpert in 34th place. The JV girls were led by Kayden Arjsamat in 30th place. The Varsity boys were led by Max Jedlicka. The Freshmen/Sophomore boys finished in 5th place and were led by Kishan Ugrappa in 18th place. Clayton Borah and DJ Peeler also earned medals by finishing in 22nd and 29th place. The team next competes on Saturday at the Lanphier invite at Lincoln Park.
