Are you interested in being involved in this year’s Springfield High fall play, whether it be on stage or behind the scenes? An informational meeting will be in the auditorium after school on Thursday, August 31st for everyone interested.

Good news! Yearbook pick-up has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 29 after school outside room 370. Please be patient as there may be a line. You can also purchase a yearbook with cash or check for $85. See you then!

Lunchtime tutoring is available for any student on either lunch shift in room 124.

High school freshmen interested in becoming a doctor or entering a healthcare profession are encouraged to apply for the P4 physical preparatory physician program. Stop by the guidance office to pick up information about the P4 program.   Applications are due September 6. 

Be A Senator will be having the first meeting of the year this Wednesday 8/30 after school in the cafeteria. If you would like to join a club that promotes good behavior and a positive environment at SHS, please join us. All are welcome. 

Juniors and Seniors - are you interested in healthcare careers? St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois is offering an after school program to teach high school students about nurses and their community. There are 12 Wednesday night sessions spread throughout October, November, December, February, March and April. Sessions will take place at St. John’s simulation Center from  4:30-7:30 p.m. Students must have their own transportation. Dinner is provided on class nights. If you are interested, you must apply. Open House is Wednesday, August 30th at 6:00 p.m. Meet us in the SHS Schnirring Auditorium for a brief introduction, then walk your student’s schedule and meet the teachers!

CACC is having a meet the teacher night for current CACC students and their families on August 31st from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Capital Area Career Center.

School Picture Day is Wednesday, September 6th. Any senior who didn’t get pics in August may get pictures taken after dismissal

GSA will have its first meeting of the year in Room 366 Mrs. Eaton’s on Friday, 9/1. All are welcome and we look forward to planning activities for the year.

Scholastic bowl will have an informational meeting Tuesday Sept 5 directly after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room. If you can’t make this meeting stop by or email to get a practice schedule. 

Tonight, our volleyball team is going up against the Titans once again! It is the first home game of the season, so come out! Varsity starts at 7 and the theme is USA!
Thursday, our volleyball team will be playing Calvary at home! Varsity will start at 7 pm and the theme is Red Out! Bring your spirit! 
Finally, FNL is back! On Friday, football goes against the Rochester Rockets at Rochester! The theme is Neon and the game starts at 7 pm! Be there and Be loud! 

The frisbee club will host a short informational meeting today after school in room 521 starting at 3:30. If you are interested in learning to play make sure to show up!

The cafeteria is now offering plant based meals! If you are interested in ordering plant based options each day, email Leardi or talk to Ms. Dee in the cafeteria.

luxefloralspringfield.net is offering SHS special Homecoming corsages for students - if you buy the wrist corsage, the boutineers are free. Luxe Floral will drop off the flowers at SHS on the day before the September 30th Homecoming Dance.

Our SHS Varsity girls golf team played at "The Rocket Invite" tournament hosted by Rochester High School on this Saturday, Aug 26th at Lincoln Greens Golf course. Senators finished 2nd among the 14 Central Illinois High School teams. 


The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Junior Varsity Team hosted Sacred Heart-Griffin High School for their first meet of the season.  This was the first match for most of the girls, and everyone played well.  In doubles, the teams of Audrey Delcomyn/Olivia Revelle and Alexis Snyder/Jadyn Mangold claimed victories.  Congratulations to all the girls on a strong performance for their first meet of the season!

The JV football team dominated Monday night on their way to a commanding 4-0 victory over Normal U-High! Defense was the difference coming up with two safeties and two interceptions. Niko Stepenewski and Jackson O’Connor were both able to take down the ball carrier in the endzone to get the only points of the game on the board. Alex Heyen and Cam Trimmer both had big interceptions that kept UHigh away from scoring.

The boys soccer varsity team fell to Glenwood 1 to 0.  Junior varsity tied 0 to 0.
