After school tutoring will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm in room 160.
There will be a football player/parent meeting on Monday, May 15th at 6:45 pm in the Commons. Please see Coach Hebb with any questions.
The PS5 raffle ticket sales have been extended. Get your tickets from any football player or Coach Hebb or Kramer. Winners will be drawn on May 19th.
If you are interested in directing the fall play next school year, applications are available in Mrs, Eaton’s room 366 this week.
The Chess club will be meeting after school from 3:17 to 5:00 in Mr. Hull’s Room (Room 224) today to host the end-of-the-year tournament! There will be a Competitive League and a Non-Competitive League, and all are welcome to come!
Mark your calendar — 7 & Senators auditions will take place on Monday, May 22nd at 4:00 pm in the Auditorium.
There will be a volleyball meeting on Wednesday May 24th after school in the cafeteria for girls who are interested in trying out for next year’s team. Summer schedule & Varsity Camp information will be distributed at the meeting.
The soccer team defeated Normal West 3-2 behind Kamryn Hoffman's hatrick. Seniors Bella Eguez, Claire Grossen, TeTee Jallah, Elyse Lightfoot and Cheresse Mitchell were honored for their contributions to SHS and the soccer program. Thank you and you will always be a Senator.
The JV soccer team defeated Normal West 3-0 Simone Dolan 2 goals and Valentina Osgood 1 goal led the way and Addysenne Sawyer earned the shut-out. Ana Dziedics, Eva Nagel and Martina Quiroz our exchange students were honored for their participation and contributions to SHS and the soccer program. Thank you ladies for being part of Senator Nation.
In its final two meets of the season, the Springfield High School Boys Tennis Team continued its dominance in CS-8 play with a 6-3 victory over Sacred Heart-Griffin and an 8-1 win over Rochester. Against Sacred Heart-Griffin, Krish Khurana, Noah Williams and David Lu won at singles while the doubles teams of David Lu/Noah Williams, Bryce Pound/Will Wang and Sam Kuforiji/Shashi Bangarulingam claimed victories. In other doubles matches, Luke Elston/Dawson Strauch, Conrad Martin/Matthew Scott, Will Sandstrom/Chase Heyen and Jordan Williams/Luke Elston came away with wins. In the final meet of the season against Rochester, James Oh, Krish Khurana, David Lu, Shashi Bangarulingam, Sam Kuforiji and Dawson Strauch won at singles while the doubles teams of David Lu/Noah Williams and Krish Khurana/James Oh claimed victories. In other matches, the doubles teams of Matthew Scott/Conrad Martin, Will Sandstrom/Chase Heyen, Arnav Nagrecha/Rudra Bhatt, Will Hovey/Matthew Sommer and Bruce Beem/Butch Cross came away with wins while Bruce Beem also won at singles. Congratulations on an outstanding season and best of luck to the team as it competes in the CS-8 Conference Tournament this weekend!
The baseball team pulled out a close one on Thursday with a 5 to 4 win over Taylorville. Christopher Leming was outstanding on the mound pitching 6 innings, allowing only 5 hits and 2 runs while striking out 9 and walking 2. Seth Impson hit the game winner in the bottom of the 6th with a 2-run home run to cap a 3-run inning that started with a Cooper Burk single and a stolen base followed by a Ryne Crum RBI single. Cooper and Seth each had two hits for the day to back the Leming effort on the hill, as Impson closed the door in the 7th with 2 strikeouts with runners on 2nd and 3rd to end the game. Next up is a Saturday game against Granite City at their place.
