Good morning, Springfield High! Today is April 27, 2023 Students and families: Please know we treat everyone with respect and kindness, and keep this school safe. Seniors, the senior meeting will be Tuesday, May 2nd during first hour with cap and gown pickup afterwards. After school tutoring will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm in room 160.

The baseball team swept their City series with Lanphier, beating them by the score of 13 to nothing last night at Lanphier Park. Christopher Leming stole the show throwing a no-hitter for his first varsity win as he struck out 5 and walked only 1. Several contributed to the offense, led by James Jenkins with 3 hits and back-to-back home runs by Seth Impson and Cooper Burk in the 9 run third inning. Burk and Ryne Crum had 2 hits apiece, with Crum adding a double. Next up is a Friday night doubleheader against back-to- back state finalist Washington High at Robin Roberts Stadium starting at 4:30.

Prom tickets are on sale today during both lunch  shifts. $20 for individuals and $35 for couples. This price jumps at the door to $25 at the door on May 5. The Springfield High School Boys Tennis Team faced off against U-High Urbana yesterday. In singles, Noah Williams and Bryce Pound won while the team of Krish Khurana/James Oh claimed a victory in doubles.  In Junior Varsity play, the doubles teams of Jordan Williams/Rohan Ugrappa, Leo Sommers/Eamon Bommarito, Chris Scherschel/Josh Gujjarlapudi, Bruce Beem/Butch Cross, Lucas Trimmer/Will Sandstrom and Arnav Nagrecha/Rudra Bhatt were victorious while Will Hovey and Matthew Sommer won in singles.  Congratulations on the strong performance.

 

Pizza Pizza Pizza, Today Today Today. Be A Senator will be selling Papa John’s pizza today for $2/slice in the Commons on both lunch shifts. We will be taking Senator Cash this time for 5 Senator Dollars per slice.

 

The Senator softball team notched two wins Tuesday night against Lanphier to move to 14 and 3 on the year. Mia Volpert and Megan Bullock picked up the pitching wins while many girls collected multiple hits on the night. Megan Becker had 3 hits in the first game and Lydia Cliburn and Mia Volpert also collected multiple hits, including a home run for Volpert. In game 2, Emma Scheffler, Megan Bullock and Bella Pagliara all had multiple hits to lead the way. Good work ladies!

 

The girls track & field team won the City meet last night. Individual champions were: Linden Neposchlan in pole vault, Shelva Sewavi in Discus, Malorie Harris in high jump, Imani Jones in the 100 hurdles, Deja Anderson in long jump, the 100 and the 200, and the 4x1- Ma’Rya, Sariean, Imani and Deja. JV Champions were Delani Beagles in shot put, Isabella McDaniel in the 100, Makenna Smith in the 800, Lynette Ware in the 400, the 4x1- Isabella, Canaya, Nevaeha and Adyson, the 4x2- Kim, Oriona, Ajailah and Earneisha, and the 4x4- Ella, Adyson, Finale and Lynette.

If juniors and seniors are bringing a guest to prom or after prom, permission forms are available in the Guidance Office and due on Wednesday, May 3rd by 3:30 p.m. Forms must be filled out entirely and turned in on time for guests to be considered. Furthermore, all guests must have a photo ID with them to be admitted to either event. Scarlet Line Dance Team tryouts are coming up soon on May 1-5, 2023. Auditions will be held on May 23rd (vocal audition and review choreography) and May 24th (dance audition).
