Seniors, the senior meeting will be Tuesday, May 2nd during first hour with cap and gown pickup afterwards.

After school tutoring will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm in room 160.

Attention Juniors: The Board of Education invites interested current high school juniors to apply to become the 2023-2024 Student School Board Member. One junior will be chosen to serve during their senior year. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. today, and can be found on our school’s homepage. Please see Mrs. Gordy if you are interested in applying. 

The senior class is selling new class apparel with proceeds going to Mr. Reid. Stop by main office, Mrs. Eaton’s room or ask your English teacher for a form.

Attention Junior and Senior senators, you are invited to a Masquerade Ball hosted by the Class of 2024 on Saturday May 6th at the Wyndham City Center form 7-9:30. Prom tickets are on sale today during both lunch  shifts. $20 for individuals and $35 for couples. This price jumps at the door to $25 at the door on May 5. Get your tickets now through Friday May 4. Senior watch for court nominations on your class Canvas Page. All submissions are due before Friday, April 28th.

If juniors and seniors are bringing a guest to prom or after prom, permission forms are available in the Guidance Office and due on Wednesday, May 3rd by 3:30 p.m. Forms must be filled out entirely and turned in on time for guests to be considered. Furthermore, all guests must have a photo ID with them to be admitted to either event.

Scarlet Line Dance Team tryouts are coming up soon on May 1-5, 2023. Interested students should attend the first clinic on May 1 at 4pm in the gym. Pizza Pizza Pizza, Thursday Thursday, Thursday. Be A Senator will be selling Papa John’s pizza this Thursday for $2/slice in the Commons on both lunch shifts. We will be taking Senator Cash this time for 5 Senator Dollars per slice.

There will be a GSA meeting Friday after school in room 366.

Attention Springfield High School  students including singers, dancers, musicians, football players, class clowns and those who like to be center of attention- the SHS IN Session and Scarlet Harmony showchoir will be holding auditions for the 2023/24 season! Auditions will be open to any and all incoming freshmen through seniors at Springfield High School. Auditions will be held on May 23rd (vocal audition and review choreography) and May 24th (dance audition). These award-winning groups have spots to fill for their competition season, and they would love to showcase our Senators’ talent! The auditions will be easy and fun. No singing or dancing experience is required. Must attend both nights of auditions and must have form fill out prior to auditions. Please see link below. The SHS football team is hosting a raffle for a PlayStation 5 and a flatscreen TV. Tickets are $5 a piece, or 5 tickets for $20. The winning tickets will be drawn at the pep assembly on May 8. Please see a football player or Coach Hebb or Kramer to get your tickets.

The Senator softball team earned a hard fought win over Athens Monday night 4 to 3. After being down 2 to 1 in the 3rd inning, the Senators tied the game on a RBI triple by Mia Volpert that drove Erin Stoops in and took the lead on a Kendall Knauer RBI. After Athens tied it up 3 to 3, the girls took the lead back for good when Knauer doubled in the final inning and then Liah O’Neil drove her in on a double for the game winning run. Mia Volpert went the distance striking out 10 batters. Good win ladies, keep it going!

Congratulations to three students whose work was selected for a juried art show at the SIU School of Medicine. Their work is on display until May 5 in the SIU Medical Library on N. Rutledge. Congratulations to Ana Dziedicz, Annah Sharp, and Evalynn Reynolds!

The baseball team won game one of their City match-up against Lanphier last night. Damon Sturm picked up his first varsity win on the mound, throwing a solid 2 innings striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing only 1 hit. Cooper Burk paced the offense with 2 hits and 4 stolen bases to go along with 2 hits by Ethan Rutter, including a double. The rematch is today at 4:30 at Robin Roberts Stadium.  

The Springfield High School Boys Tennis Team narrowly lost a closely contested meet against U-High Normal yesterday, 4-5.  In doubles, the team of David Lu/Noah Williams won while Noah Williams, Krish Khurana and James Oh claimed victories in singles.  In Junior Varsity play, the doubles team of Jordan Williams/Rohan Ugrappa won while Matthew Sommer and Rohan Ugrappa won in singles.  Congratulations on the strong performance.

The girls soccer team remained undefeated in the CS8 with an 11-0 victory over Decatur.
The senators got points from Kamryn Hoffman 2 goals 1 assist, Bridget Lyons 1 goal 1 assist, Lila Ambrose 1 goal 1 assist, Bella Equez 1 goal 1 assist, Emma Allen 1 goal 1 assist,Lily Lambert 1 goal 1 assist,  Ruth Becker 1 goal, Madison Clark  1 goal, Cherese Mitchell 1 goal, Elyse Lightfoot 1 goal, Savannah Murphy 1 assist, and Meara Seelbach 1 assist. Cherese Mitchell, Lila Ambrose and Ruth Becker combined for the shut out.

The JV team defeated Decatur 4-0. Simone Dolan, Valentina Osgood, Madeline Drewes, and Amelia Fultz scored for the Senators. Addysenne Sawyer and Claire Marion combined for the shut-out.
