After school tutoring will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm in room 160.

Attention Juniors: The Board of Education invites interested current high school juniors to apply to become the 2023-2024 Student School Board Member. One junior will be chosen to serve during their senior year. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, and can be found on our school’s homepage. Please see Mrs. Gordy if you are interested in applying. 

Tryouts for the 2023-2024 SHS Cheerleading squads are approaching. Tryout packets can be picked up from the main office, from Coach Dorr in 169, or from Coach Moscardelli in room 156. The tryout process will begin with a mandatory tryout meeting Wednesday, April 19th at 6:00 pm in the SHS Commons for both parents and candidates. Any questions please see Coach Dorr. 

The senior class is selling new class apparel with proceeds going to Mr. Reid. Stop by main office, Mrs. Eaton’s room or ask your English teacher for a form.

Attention Junior and Senior senators, you are invited to a Masquerade Ball hosted by the Class of 2024 on Saturday May 6th at the Wyndham City Center form 7-9:30. Tickets will be sold beginning next Monday April 24th during both lunch shifts. Price is $20 individual $35 couples before the event and $25 at the door. Senior watch for court nominations on your class Canvas Page. All submissions are due before Friday, April 28th. 

The baseball team split a pair of games over the weekend, beating Plains 4 to 3 on Friday night, but dropping their Saturday game against Granite City 12 to 8 to end their 7 game winning streak. Rico Veach was the star of the game on Friday, pitching 5 and a third innings in relief allowing only one run while striking out 7. Ryne Crum had 3 hits, including a double and Griffin Burk added a pair of hits also including a double. On Saturday, Jude Romanotto and James Jenkins paced the offense with each having 2 hits and a double. Next up is U-High tomorrow in a 4:30 contest at Robin Roberts Stadium. 

The boys track and field team competed in the Capital city classic on Saturday. Top finishers for were: Finn Loken 5th in the 800 and the 1600; Kevin crews 5th in the high jump; and Paul Hartman 4th in the 200. The fresh/soph 4x4 of Elliott Kaisner, Declan Brown, Ben Walden and Antonio Sosmena finished 4th and the 4x800 team of Clayton Borah, Finn Murphy, Alex Ratz and Lucas Schmitt also finished 4th. The boys next compete on Saturday at the Lanphier Invite. 

The Senator softball team split 2 games this weekend and now stand at 10 and 1 on the season. In game one, the Senators came from behind to beat Pleasant Plains 3 to 1. Mia Volpert struck out 14 while allowing just 4 hits. Megan bullock had 2 hits and Kendall Knauer had a hit and RBI, with Volpert having 2 RBIs. In game 2, the Senators battled hard but lost to a good Pleasant Hill team 5 to 1. Kendall Knauer led the way with 2 hits. Megan Bullock pitched a solid game only allowing 6 hits and helped herself out with a triple. 

The Springfield High School Boys Tennis Team claimed the team championship for the Springfield Quad last Friday.  Playing Sacred Heart-Griffin, Jersey and Macomb high schools, James Oh, Dawson Strauch, Luke Elston, Eamon Bommarito, Noah Williams, Shashi Bangarulingam and Jordan Williams claimed victories at singles while the doubles teams of Will Wang/Bryce Pound, Krish Khurana/James Oh, Dawson Strauch/Danny First, Conrad Martin/Matthew Scott and Will Sandtrom/Chase Heyen also were victorious.  Congratulations on great performances!
