After school tutoring will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm in room 160.

Hey Seniors! It's time to vote on senior superlatives for the yearbook! See your class Canvas page for the link to vote. Voting will remain open until Sunday, April 23rd. If you are selected, your photo will be taken the week of April 24th.

Attention Juniors: The Board of Education invites interested current high school juniors to apply to become the 2023-2024 Student School Board Member. One junior will be chosen to serve during their senior year. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, and can be found on our school’s homepage. Please see Mrs. Gordy if you are interested in applying. 

Tryouts for the 2023-2024 SHS Cheerleading squads are approaching. Tryout packets can be picked up from the main office, from Coach Dorr in 169, or from Coach Moscardelli in room 156. The tryout process will begin with a mandatory tryout meeting Wednesday, April 19th at 6:00 pm in the SHS Commons for both parents and candidates. Any questions please see Coach Dorr. 

The senior class is selling new class apparel with proceeds going to Mr. Reid. Stop by main office, Mrs. Eaton’s room or ask your English teacher for a form.

The feminist club meeting for today has been moved to next week Tuesday 4/18 in Mrs. Taft’s room 356.

GSA is hosting a spring cookie decorating event this Friday after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room 366.

Anyone interested in being a part of the backstage crew or technical crew for the musical, please meet in the Auditorium after school this Friday, April 14th.

The baseball team won its second City game over Southeast last night. The Senators played well and were led by Seth Impson's 3 hits and 4 RBI's at the plate, including 2 triples and a home run. The supporting cast was also strong, as Ryne Crum had 3 hits and 2 doubles good for 2 RBI's to go with 2 hit games from Rico Veach, Sam Hartl, and A.J. Bennett. Bennett had a double and a triple for 3 RBI's, while Veach and Hartl also added doubles. Hartl was the winning pitcher allowing only 2 hits as Christopher Leming closed the door with a 1-2-3 final inning. Next up is Plains on Friday at Robin Roberts Stadium in a 6:30 start. 

The Senator softball team swept Southeast to move to 9 and 0 on the season. In game one, Mia Volpert threw a perfect game, including striking out all 12 batters faced. Gabby Deller, Volpert, Kendall Knauer, and Megan Bullock all had multiple hits. In game 2, Megan Bullock pitched a 1 hit, 6 strikeout shutout. Liah Oneill and Megan Bullock lead the way with one hit and 2 RBI’s apiece. Keep it going ladies! 

The Boys Fresh/Soph Track and field team finished in 2nd place at the Solon/Lion Open last night.  Event champions were: Donald Anderson in the 100, Lucas Schmitt in the 3200, Micah Bonansinga in the 110 Hurdles and the 300 Hurdles, Zach Wilson in the long jump, and the 4x400 relay team of Elliott Kaisner, Ben Walden, Declan Brown and Micah Bonansinga.

The Varsity boys track and field team finished 3rd place at the Solon/Lion Open last night.  Event champions were: Finn Loken in the 1600, Shamar Richardson in the discus, Matthew Browning in the long jump, and the 4x200 relay team of DeAndre Brown, Kevin Crews, Bryson Thomas, and Paul Hartman.  The teams next compete on Saturday at the Capital City Classic at Southeast High School.  

The girls track & field team competed at the Jacksonville Triangular yesterday. Event winners for SHS were: Shelva in shot put, Keziah in the 400, Imani in the 100 hurdles & 300 hurdles, Meredith and Sariean tied in the 200, Ma’Rya, Sariean, Canaya & Keziah in the 4x1 and the throwers 4x1- Shelva, Trieneeisha, Crishonna and Delani finished 2nd.
