After school tutoring will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm in room 160.

Hey Seniors! It's time to vote on senior superlatives for the yearbook! See your class Canvas page for the link to vote. Voting will remain open until Sunday, April 23. If you are selected, your photo will be taken the week of April 24th.

Attention Juniors: The Board of Education invites interested current high school juniors to apply to become the 2023-2024 Student School Board Member. One junior will be chosen to serve during their senior year. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, and can be found on our school’s homepage. Please see Mrs. Gordy if you are interested in applying. 

Tryouts for the 2023-2024 SHS Cheerleading squads are approaching. Tryout packets can be picked up from the main office, from Coach Dorr in 169, or from Coach Moscardelli in room 156. The tryout process will begin with a mandatory tryout meeting Wednesday, April 19th at 6:00 pm in the SHS Commons for both parents and candidates. Any questions please see Coach Dorr. 

The senior class is selling new class apparel with proceeds going to Mr. Reid. Stop by main office, Mrs. Eaton’s room or ask your English teacher for a form.

The Springfield High School Boys Varsity Tennis Team claimed the team championship at this past weekend's Bloomington Invitational.  The team of Noah Williams/David Lu won the championship at first doubles while Bryce Pound/Will Wang claimed second place at second doubles.  The tandem of Sam Kuforiji/Shashi Bangarulingam finished in seventh at third doubles.  At first singles, Krish Khurana won third place while James Oh finished in fifth place at second singles.  Congratulations to the Team Champions and great individual performances!

The baseball team won a pair of 10-run rule games over the Easter weekend defeating Chicago Whitney Young on Thursday 16 to 6 and Auburn 13 to 3 on Saturday. Griffin Burk led the way in both games with 4 RBI's in each that also included a home run in each. Twin brother Cooper added a grand slam in the first one and added another RBI in game 2. Ryne Crum celebrated his birthday weekend with 4 hits and 3 doubles, while Seth Impson also homered and tacked on 5 RBI's for the Solons. Sam Hartl was the winning pitcher Saturday and also had 4 hits over the 2 games. Next up is City play today against Southeast at their place at 4:30.

The boys track competed at the 39 team Belleville West invitational on Friday against some of the top teams in the state of Illinois. The boys competed hard all day and finished with numerous personal bests. The top finisher for SHS was senior Finn Loken who placed 11th in the 3200. The boys next compete on Wednesday at Southeast.

The feminist club meeting for today has been moved to next week Tuesday 4/18 in Mrs. Taft’s room 356.

GSA is hosting a spring cookie decorating event this Friday after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room 366.

The girls track & field team competed at the McBride Invite this weekend. Top finishers for SHS were: Linden Neposchlan 3rd in pole vault, Shelva Sewavi 3rd in shot put, Payton Heise 6th in the 1600, Myla Shannon 8th in the 3200, Imani Jones 7th in the 100 hurdles and 6th in the 300 hurdles. The 4x8- Payton, Nola, Reaghan and Mary finished 4th and the 4x1- Ma’Rya, Imani, Linden & Keziah finished 8th.
