Hey Spartans, if you are ever absent or just wanting to go back to see announcements because something really cool caught your attention.

Go to the Southeast webpage, scroll down and you will see the current announcements. If you want to see older announcements, click on SEE ALL POSTS.

From there you can click on any date, and either view the video, or quickly read through the printed copy to find practice times, club announcements, or just general information.

Spartans! Southeast High School will hold a Sadies Hawkins Dance on Friday March 1, 7-9 pm. Tickets are $10 a person. If your date is not a Southeast Student please pick up a permission slip in the main office. Tickets will be on sale during lunch.

SOPHOMORES, Jostens will be back on TUESDAY, February 20th from 11am to 12:30pm AND also on Wednesday, February 21st from 7:30am to 12pm to collect your class ring order forms and to get your ring size. Be sure to design your ring online and bring your completed order form and down payment to get your order started on Tuesday or Wednesday. If you missed the meeting, packets are available in the guidance office.

The Poetry Out Loud Central Illinois Regional Contest is TODAY at 4:00 P.M. in Peggy Ryder Theatre at the Hoogland Center for the Arts.  There is no admission cost, and all are welcome.  Support Kallie and Ashyla as they represent Southeast. Good luck, Spartans!

Did you know we owe the integration of schools to Brown vs Board of Education Topeka Kansas 1954 which was a landmark decision by the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that separation by race was not equal and ordered the desegregation of all schools throughout the nation.

Taste of Black History - Wed, Feb 28th (2:30 - 5pm). In the Commons. Free Food, Games and Trivia!

We have Black History Spirit week Feb 26-March 1. The best dressed will receive a prize each day! 

Monday-Black and Bold (wear all black) 

Tuesday- Do it for the culture (Represent a country)

Wednesday- Wear a black history shirt or red/black/green shirt

Thursday- camo day

Friday- Throwback. 

Get those outfits ready!

The Poetry Club will have our next meeting this Friday from 3:30-4:30 pm in room 107. See Mrs. Collins with any questions!

From the College Room: Scholarships for and through Lincoln Land Community College are due TODAY.

Next FAFSA completion is Feb 28th during the school day. 

Seniors, you should have your college applications in to colleges and be finishing your FAFSA and working on scholarships! 

Note! College cost of admission or Student Award Letters will be late this year. It will likely be early April before you know the Cost of Attendance and Financial awards for the colleges you have been accepted into.

Housing and enrollment deposits…be mindful that many of these are not refundable if you decide to go to another college.

GIRLS SOCCER conditioning continues Friday at 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM. 

Boys soccer players are required to turn in their clean jerseys and shorts to the main office by February 23rd. Make sure the secretary collects your name when you turn these items in. 

Congratulations to our girls basketball team players and staff for all of their efforts and perseverance during the 2023 - 2024 season. Participation in athletics helps you stay in shape, teaches you time management, and boosts friendships. Special thanks to parents and fans who supported the Lady Spartans and all sports teams. 

SOFTBALL Try-Outs will be on February 26th at 3:30pm. Meet Coach Porter in the gym. If you have any questions please reach out to Coach Porter.

Anyone who is interested in playing BASEBALL this year should attend the meeting Next Wednesday February 21st in Room 218 immediately after school.  If you have any questions please see Coach Leininger in room 218 during the day.

Awards/Celebrations

Senator Doris Turner and Southeast have teamed up for violence prevention awareness. In doing so, they would like to reward students who exhibit positive behavior. 

So Reminder!! students with no referrals will have a chance at winning gift cards each week until the end of the year!!!!!

We are pulling winners for 3 gift cards. The winners will be announced FRIDAY on morning announcements!!! So make sure you are paying attention and good luck to every Spartan!!

SSHS Drama Club congratulates one of our theater and performing arts superstars, David Greene, a junior at Springfield Southeast High School who was selected by drama club sponsors to be interviewed this Friday morning by our District 186 Superintendent, Mrs. Jennifer Gill, on Sportsradio Channel 1450 during a “talk radio takeover”, along with two other 186 high school students. Tune in to Sports radio Channel 1450 this Friday morning, Feb. 16th, from 8:37-8:45 am. Break a leg, David Greene!! SSHS Drama Club and the whole Spartan community is proud of YOU!!!
