Research confirms that practicing mindfulness reduces stress. It improves physical and mental health as well as cognitive performance. It helps us respond rather than react to stressors. Mindfulness can be defined as paying attention to thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations intentionally, in the present moment, with curiosity, friendliness, and gentleness and accepting things just as they are. If you are interested in learning more about mindfulness and some specific techniques to help you manage your stress, stop by the Peace Room in the front lobby vestibule Monday, Tuesday or Thursday each week and see Mrs. Coley. All fall sports pictures will be on Wednesday, September 25. This is for girls tennis, golf, cross country, boys soccer, and girls swimming. Please wear your uniform and report to the auditorium at 2:30 on September 25. They are green. Reoccurring Exclusion day is in 2 weeks. We need all senior meningitis records and freshmen physicals before then. If you haven't had those done, make your appointments asap! Attention students interested in attending homecoming, this is a reminder that if you have been suspended for any reason prior to the homecoming dance, you are not allowed to attend. Please do not purchase a ticket if you have been suspended from school, as you may not get your money back, and you will not be allowed to enter the dance. Spartans— the homecoming dance is THIS Saturday, September 23 from 7-9 here at Southeast High School. Tickets are $10. Tickets are on sale now during lunch in the commons! Shout out to Mrs. Latif's 2nd period seniors for using critical thinking to analyze how and what authors are communicating by connecting the authors' words with their own life experiences. Bonus points (and shoutout) for connecting what they learned about republics and direct democracies in Mr. Volpert's class to help resolve a group responsibilities dispute! Shout out to Mr. Biggers for teaching an old dog new tricks.
