Good Morning Southeast students and staff, it's Word of the day Wednesday, April 26, 2023! Remember that successful Spartans ARE RESPECTFUL, they follow classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning throughout the building.

Word of the day Wednesday:

Conundrum: Riddle, problem. High school students might be faced with a conundrum of trying to find a job with no work experience.

Attention anyone interested in joining the Southeast Poms team tryout packets are available in the Main Office for pick up.  Mandatory clinics begin this week  April 27th and 28th from 4-6:30 in the Southeast Gym.  Tryouts will be Saturday April 29th from 9-12 in the Southeast Gym.  If you have any questions please see coach Goodrich or email her at goodrich@sps186.org

"Reminder to seniors - make sure all overdue library books are turned in and all fines are paid. If you have books that belong to any school in the district - bring them to the library and Ms. Thompson will get them to the correct location and off your account so you can graduate on time."

Speaking of graduation JOSTENS WILL BE HERE ON THURSDAY - APRIL 27TH DURING 6TH HOUR TO DELIVER CAPS AND GOWNS.

ALL ORDERS MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE YOU CAN PICK THEM UP SO IF YOU OWE, PLEASE BRING YOUR PAYMENT WITH YOU ON THURSDAY.  THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS - ONLY CASH, CREDIT CARD OR MONEY ORDER.  

Issues of the East side chronicle’s City Magazine will be available friday for two dollars during both lunch periods. You want these mags! There may be a picture of you in attendance, and if you were on the team you’ll be featured with your teams roster as well! 

Attentions Spartans, Prom is just a few short weeks away. To be eligible to attend prom students must meet the following criteria. 

1. Be passing 5 out 7 classes on the May 1st progress reports

2. 3 or fewer days of Out of School Suspension

3. Students must be in attendance at least a half day on Friday May 5th. 

4. Students bringing guests from another school must have signed permission slips for their guests to attend by may 4th

5. Students must arrive at prom by 8:30 pm. Students will not be permitted after this time. 

Hey, are you in need of a prom dress? Any juniors or seniors who need prom dresses, please see Ms Sellars in guidance or Ms Thompson in the library! 

Prom court voting begins today in the commons, cast your vote for the next king and queen!

Seniors, the time to have your ego bruised is rapidly approaching! If you think you have what it takes to take a teacher out on the dodgeball court, be sure you stop by the main office to sign up for the upcoming staff/senior dodgeball game! No sign up, no participation.  In order to play, you must attend the mandatory pre-game meeting after school on May 10 in room 103. You must also be on level, passing 5 of 7 classes and have zero suspensions from school this year.  

Attention Juniors: The Board of Education invites interested current high school juniors to apply to become the 2023-2024 Student School Board Member. One junior will be chosen to serve during their senior year. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. this Wednesday, April 26, 2023, and can be found on our school’s homepage. Please see Ms. O’Connor or Ms. Metz for more information.

Do you play guitar or drums? Do you sing? Are you READY TO ROCK?! 

It's time for BATTLES OF THE BANDS!!! Bands will perform during the lunch hours in the courtyard/commons during the third week of May. For signup and additional information, see Mr. Philbrick in the band room 162.

From the college room…

Seniors! Congratulations, you are almost there! Keep working on your grades. If you have chosen a college or trade school, you should have 1. met with your advisor, 2. found out what your financial aid offer is (remember loans must be paid back, grants and scholarships do not have to be paid back), 3. signed up for New Student Orientation, 4. made a deposit on housing and tuition, 5. register for classes (some may not be open). 

Brother Marcus, Southeast Legacy and Black Lives Matter Scholarships are due ASAP! 

If you have chosen the Military, you should have a start date or at least an ASVAB testing date set.

All Seniors should have the FAFSA completed or the non-participation form.

Juniors! Yep, Class of 2024...Next Wednesday, in the Library during both lunch shifts - we will have a special guest to talk to us about COLLEGE 101 and how to be ready for your Senior year. Wednesday, May 3rd in the Library — bring your lunch and a friend:)
