Central Illinois Foodbank will be hosting our Thanksgiving distribution on Monday, November 25 at 4pm. The Foodbank will be giving out turkeys, apples, broccoli, pumpkin pie, blocks of cheese and a Thanksgiving themed dry box of goods. The limit is 2 boxes per vehicle. They will also have hygiene items available for anyone who needs them.
Reminder that tutoring will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm-4:00pm.Tutoring will begin Tuesday, October 22nd. Mrs. O'Brien will be the tutor on Tuesdays and Mr. Bond will be the tutor on Thursdays. Transportation home will not be provided.
Please encourage any student who is struggling grade wise, or failed a class 1st quarter to attend after school tutoring. This is a time in which they can receive extra help on anything that they are struggling with, and also make up work. In some cases, we will allow students to have extra time on Edmentum classes during this time if they have shown that they are completing assignments during the school day.
As a reminder, Thursday, October 17th, will be a 60-minute early dismissal for all students to accommodate Parent-Teacher Conferences. Additionally, there will be no school on Friday, October 18th, as conferences will continue throughout the day.

SLA will be hosting its first Blood Drive of they year. Tuesday September 10th at 11am -2pm we will allow students to donate blood if they are interested. Students under the age of 16 is unable to donate but 16 years of age and older are able to donate. If they are 16 they must have a parent permission form. SLA First Day of School and Open House!
This is a reminder that school begins for SLA Monday, August 19th at 9:00am. We will have an open house for students to pick up schedules and computers Friday, August 16th from 2:00pm-3:00pm. We will see you soon!
The Keep Kids in School Coalition will be offering physicals and immunizations for District 186 students on Wednesday, August 7th at the Sangamon County Department of Public Health. Sign-in hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
No appointment needed.
The clinic will only serve District 186 students who are entering Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade and those who are new to Illinois who must provide a current physical exam and immunization record. All 12th grade students must provide proof of having received a dose of the meningococcal vaccine on or after their 16th birthday. The legal parent or guardian must accompany their child.
No sports physicals will be offered. Thank you!

Elementary School message for those classrooms that did not send home devices: Families will receive a direct message today because a few classrooms did not send home devices on Friday because of MAP testing and other individual classroom needs. Each classroom or school that is affected will send a direct communication by the principal or classroom teacher. Please make sure to read these communications.
Middle School + High School: Students must log into InfoSystem to confirm their attendance.
Attendance will be processed at the end of the day.
Students that DO NOT log into the Infosystem will be marked absent.
Teachers can also request changes based on student participation.

In anticipation of exceptionally cold temperatures expected tomorrow morning and a water main break that is still under repair at Jefferson Middle School, Springfield Public School District 186 will have an e-learning day on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. ALL District 186 schools will have an e-learning day on January 16th. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our utmost priority, and we thank you for your understanding as we collectively navigate through these weather challenges. Based on the weather forecast we anticipate being in school on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
We have enacted our E-Learning day plan that allows students to receive asynchronous instruction at home, in lieu of using the District’s five extra days that have historically been added to the end of the school year.

We were notified by First Student that due to a higher than normal shortage of bus drivers today, there will be buses ruing late to their scheduled bus stop. Please monitor your student's bus stops.
Also, all changes to buses have been entered into the First View App. You can use this app to track your student's bus and be informed of any bus number changes. We appreciate your patience and cooperation this morning.
