Celebrating Black History

In celebration of Black History Month, we’d like to highlight some of the events and activities that will take place in February (and beyond).

Each day on the announcements, there will be a trivia question, highlighting an important person in history.

Students and staff are encouraged to wear black history month shirts during the month of February.

Grades 3-5 students will have the opportunity to learn from three different speakers during the month.  Presenters will speak about their career path as well as their membership in one of the “Divine Nine” sororities and fraternities.

Students and staff will participate in an interactive display entitled, “I can change the world with my words”. You can view the display in our Lobby!

Our library will have black authors, characters and non-fiction works highlighted.

We will continue the celebration into March with a poetry presentation from a member of the Garvey Tubman Cultural Arts and Research Center.
