District 186 Families,

The City Tournament is upon us and begins Wednesday, January 17, 2024 and runs through January 20, 2024!  We are looking forward to having our community come to the BOS Center and cheer on all of our city high schools!

We want to remind you of the Code of Conduct for students and guests attending the event at the BOS Center. Misconduct at the City Tournament will not be tolerated. The Code of Conduct and the guidelines of the student handbook apply to all students while on District 186 property, adjacent property or engaged in school-sponsored activities. Any misconduct before, during or after the game will be handled by the administration at the student’s school.  Misconduct or disrespectful language toward referees by any fan could be reason for removal from the BOS Center and the overall tournament.

We will have weapons detection systems to walk through as our fans enter the BOS facility, and we will have security personnel and administration helping maintain a safe environment during the event. Any prohibited item not limited to knives, pepper spray or other items identified as a weapon, alcohol and other non-prescription drugs will be confiscated and will not be returned. Additionally, we want to remind students and families that social media posts related to the City Tournament should remain positive and with good school spirit. Please have a conversation with your students about positive conduct during this exciting event.

All elementary and middle school students need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian/adult to attend the City Tournament and not dropped off to attend the game without supervision. We expect all students to have a seat during the games and enjoy the activities. High school students will report to their section of the BOS Center each night.  We want the high school students to be able to enjoy the event with their peers and not have the responsibility of monitoring their siblings or other young children. We appreciate this assistance.

In addition, we want to remind everyone that this is a school event and students are expected to wear clothing that does not include lewd, obscene, or vulgar language or representation of anything illegal. Large chains or wallet chains are not allowed.

Please talk with your student(s) about making good choices and arrange for student(s) to be picked up immediately after the game!

We want to cheer on our teams, have great District 186 spirit and have a good time. Thank you for assisting the Administration and the Springfield Police Department in this manner.
