Happy New Year! Included below are a couple friendly reminders for Arrival and Dismissal at LMS. * Please see Map Attached.
Arrival:
As students arrive Monday morning, there are 2 locations that they can proceed to. The first is our cafeteria for breakfast at 7:35. Students may go to the cafeteria and enjoy complimentary breakfast each day as well as lunch. If your student is not planning to go to breakfast they will stay on the playground and mingle with their classmates until 7:45 and we will start to bring in all 6th grade students through our Capitol Ave. door and 7th and 8th grade through the 12th street doors. (Same as Orientation Day for 6th Grade)
If you are driving your student please make sure you are dropping off on Capitol Ave. side of the building or on the corner of 12th and Monroe (Church Parking Lot). Cars may not use the 12th Street Bus lane for morning drop off.
Pick Up and Drop off at LMS: Please see Map attached below.
If your student is a bus rider, please make sure you have checked the route list for stop location and time. Some stops have changed from last year, as they do every year, as new addresses and new stops are being merged. The transportation department worked very hard to ensure that there should be a stop within 2-3 blocks for every student. If you have not confirmed your bus number and stop number please check the list as soon as possible.
Every student needs to know their Bus Number and Stop or if they are a car rider or walker.
Please connect with your student before they leave Monday morning for school to make sure they know how they are getting home. (ex. ride the bus, pick up in the Monroe Parking lot, etc)
Please write it down for your student and put it in their backpack. Sometimes they get nervous and forget.
Any changes needed at this time will not be in place for the first week. By confirming your stop and location you will be able to see up to date bus location information via the first view app.
Students can arrive at school in front of the building on Capitol Ave. There is no parking on the street so please make sure to drop your student off and then proceed to the stoplight in order to keep traffic flowing.
Students who are car riders may meet their family on the south side of Capitol Ave after the buses leave or the Church parking lot on the corner of Monroe St. and 12th. There will be an adult there to help them cross the street. Please note - There is no parking on the LMS blacktop or on the school sides of the building. We have 17 buses that will arrive each day at LMS and will be utilizing all sides of our building for student pick up.
