Springfield and Central Illinois African American History Museum collected our student's artwork and then had the pieces professionally framed and hung to create an exhibit at the museum.
All of the pieces of art were either created by an African American artist or they depict the African American experience.
We appreciate the AAHM & their commitment to showcasing our students' work in celebrating Black History.

Middle School Preview Night!!
We are excited to invite our incoming 6th graders and their families to learn more about the middle school experience in District 186.
All of our middle schools will be hosting an open house for incoming 6th graders for the 2023-2024 school year on Thursday, February 16th at 6 p.m.
We invite you and your student to come to the informational open house at your student’s middle school that serves the boundaries of your residence or to the school your child has received an acceptance letter from (including Lincoln Magnet School, Iles or Franklin Middle School gifted program) to learn more about the middle school experience, scheduling, courses, extracurricular opportunities and tour the facility.

Girls volleyball: there will be open gym for volleyball Monday (12/19) and Tuesday (12/20) from 2:45-4pm at GMS. Girls wanting to tryout must attend at least 1 of these. Tryouts will be on Wednesday (12/21) at 2:45-4 with call backs on Thursday (12/22) from 2:45-4.

This is just a friendly reminder that it is a 1:30 dismissal this Friday. Students are expected to leave their Chromebooks at school over break. We will resume school on January, Wednesday the 4th, 2023!! We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!
Boys basketball tonight vs WMS! 8th grade night has been moved from tonight to our January 4th game!
GMS Chill Hour: Students will be invited to watch a movie, eat popcorn and soda during 6th hour Friday December 16th if they are at 93% attendance and tardy free from December 1st - December 15th!

Volleyball tryouts will be held, tomorrow, Tuesday, November 29 from 2:30-4pm. The first round of cuts will be posted by 4:15 as well. Please wear shorts, t-shirt, gym shoes, knee pads and a water bottle. Students may ride the activity bus home at 4:15 if needed (if they are normally a bus rider). Best of luck ladies!
All students are able to be out of dress code ( no rips or holes in jeans and still in district appropriate clothing) for $2 today. Also those who were referral free this week can attend the staff vs student basketball game / teacher pie in the face today for $1!! All money raised will go towards the girls basketball team! Mark your calendars! Our gift card Fundraiser with Texas Roadhouse starts on Tuesday, November 15th! Packets will be sent home with students on Monday, November 14th. Students will have 2 weeks to sell. Packets and money are due back on Tuesday, November 29th. There is a $5 minimum purchase. Gift cards will be delivered to students no later than December 14th. Great idea for a stocking stuffer!
The top selling advisory class will get a free lunch in 2023! The teacher with the top selling students will get a $30 dinner voucher. There are also prizes for the top 3 sellers overall!
