Good luck to our boys basketball team playing in Mount Zion tonight! We only have 2 more home games- Monday and Thursday is 8th grade night for the boys team and cheerleaders!
Good luck to the 6th grade volleyball team as they play their first game tomorrow morning at 9:30 at Ball Charter- please arrive by 9am.
7/8 grade volleyball has their first game Tuesday vs JMS at Grant!

No after school activities will have an activity bus this Wednesday. We hope all families have a safe and happy holiday break! Also, due to construction in the gym, winter break practices may be rearranged. Please check with your child's coach for specifics.

Our rescheduled game vs. Peoria Lutheran will be at GMS for a 4:30 game tomorrow!

The gift of giving is in the air at Grant middle school. Last week we were blessed to partner with 2 businesses. State Farm with a coat drive donations and Share the Spirit. Share the spirit is a non profit organization put together to make sure that each student has a pair of shoes. We would like to thank both new partnerships for being apart of giving back to our students at Grant middle school.

Shout out to the Grant cheerleaders, who did a great job spreading Christmas cheer to the elderly yesterday.
We visited Montavale and Lewis Memorial of Springfield and Villas of Holly Brook in Chatham. It was great seeing the residents happy and cheerful.
We had a request to sing Jingle Bells by a resident who thought we were there to sing. So, guess what? We sang Jingle Bells.
Happy Holidays!!

The 6th grade boys basketball game has been cancelled for 6pm tonight. Sorry for any inconveniences!

Don't forget that Peter Pan tryouts will be held tonight 12/13 after school at 1:45

GMS Nachos tomorrow!
$4 for nachos
$1 for a cup of peppers

These are the expectations that the Grant Middle School will follow in regards to outside recess/PE during cold weather.
When cold weather is upon us, buildings will access AccuWeather for the area: https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/springfield/62701/weather-forecast/328763
If the “real feel” (which takes into account both wind chill and solar heat) is below 15 degrees, we will make accommodations to house students inside for recess and/or PE.
Our staff will carefully monitor students while outside and take the necessary steps to ensure students are appropriately clothed/prepared for the cold weather, watching out for signs of frostbite and other cold-related issues.
Additionally, we ask each school to assess outside area conditions for snow, ice, slippery conditions and determine whether outdoor activities should be conducted based on safety concerns (separate from the temperature guidelines).
Parents, we also ask for your collaboration/ cooperation by making sure that your student is dressed appropriately (wearing enough layers, gloves, scarf, etc.) for school based on the temperature outside.
If your student does not have a jacket/ coat, please feel free to speak with the school counselor or parent liaison.

Don't forget at Grant middle school today boys basketball camp from nine to noon ages 4 to 11 and from 2 to 6 cheer camp for ages 4-11! $25 each to support the each team!
