Reminder ALL Middle School & High School students must log into InfoSystem to confirm their attendance for today!
Attendance will be processed at the end of the day, so please get on & get your attendance confirmed!
Students that DO NOT log into the Infosystem will be marked absent.
All Elementary students attendance will be taken during their scheduled Google Meet session with their teacher. Students should log in to Canvas and join the Google Meet session during the time provided by their teacher.


In anticipation of exceptionally cold temperatures expected tomorrow morning and a water main break that is still under repair at Jefferson Middle School, Springfield Public School District 186 will have an e-learning day on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. ALL District 186 schools will have an e-learning day on January 16th. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our utmost priority, and we thank you for your understanding as we collectively navigate through these weather challenges. Based on the weather forecast we anticipate being in school on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
We have enacted our E-Learning day plan that allows students to receive asynchronous instruction at home, in lieu of using the District’s five extra days that have historically been added to the end of the school year.

We were notified by First Student that due to a higher than normal shortage of bus drivers today, there will be buses ruing late to their scheduled bus stop. Please monitor your student's bus stops.
Also, all changes to buses have been entered into the First View App. You can use this app to track your student's bus and be informed of any bus number changes. We appreciate your patience and cooperation this morning.

We want to remind you that we are fast approaching the deadline for students to have their physical and immunization information turned in per state guidelines.
Please make sure that you have contacted your school’s nurse with your child’s upcoming physical/immunization appointment or that you have turned in your physical and immunization paperwork this week.
Students failing to provide required health information will be excluded from school starting October 1st.

Calling all incoming 6th graders!! 📢📢
Incoming 6th grade students are invited to attend a 6th grade orientation at their home school on Thursday, August 10th, from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Students will engage in activities, tour the school and learn more about their upcoming middle school experience. Please note that bus routes will be running that day as well.

Due to the power outage, the Administrative Office is closed. If you need immediate assistance, please contact the Business Office at 217-525-3040. We expect to resume normal operations Monday, July 3.

All summer school programs and SCOPE are canceled Friday, June 30, to allow maintenance staff to assess and clean up buildings and grounds.
We expect all programs to resume next week as normally scheduled.

All students and staff in summer programs are safe. Buses will run at the normal time, but routes may take longer due to traffic or blocked streets. Families are welcome to pick up students early. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Springfield and Central Illinois African American History Museum collected our student's artwork and then had the pieces professionally framed and hung to create an exhibit at the museum.
All of the pieces of art were either created by an African American artist or they depict the African American experience.
We appreciate the AAHM & their commitment to showcasing our students' work in celebrating Black History.

Preparing for freshman year of high school is an exciting time full of hopes, opportunities, and new beginnings! We are excited to invite our incoming freshmen and their families to learn more about the high school experience in District 186.
All three of our high schools will be hosting an open house for incoming freshmen for the 2023-2024 school year tomorrow, January 18th at 6 p.m.
We invite you and your student to come to the informational open house at your student’s high school that serves the boundaries of your residence to learn more about the high school experience, scheduling, courses, extracurricular opportunities and tour the facility.

The crowd was a pink wave at Franklin Middle School tonight! It was the annual pink out girls basketball game to raise awareness of breast cancer.
FMS students, staff and guests were decked out in pink costumes, team shirts and more! FMS debuted their brand new pink-inspired basketball uniform for the big game versus CTK.



District 186 families!
Any pre -k , kindergarten, 6th grade, 9th grade, 12th grade and new students to District 186 - please turn in your child's proof of physical and immunization information as soon as possible.
If your child’s physical and immunizations have not yet been turned in or scheduled, your child will be excluded from school on September 6, 2022.
Because of the demand for appointments and immunization in our community, the Board of Education is allowing school nurses to accept documentation of your child’s scheduled physical and immunizations so that they may remain in school. This documentation of an appointment must be brought to the school on Sept. 6 in order for a student to remain.
Appointments must be scheduled between now and October 14, 2022. After October 15 all students who do not have proper documentation of completed immunizations and physicals will be excluded from school.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.

Please turn in your physical and immunization forms ASAP! It is very important to make sure your student's records are up to date with your school. Students without their information turned in will be excluded from school starting September 6th.

The Keep Kids in School Coalition will be offering FREE physicals and immunizations for District 186 students Saturday, August 27th at Springfield Clinic Wabash- 2200 Wabash Ave. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..
No insurance required. Must be an enrolled District 186 student to participate.
Standard school vaccines only available while supplies last.No appointment needed.
The clinic will only serve District 186 students who are entering Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade and those who are new to Illinois must provide a current physical exam and immunization record. All 12th grade students must provide proof of having received a dose of the meningococcal vaccine on or after their 16th birthday. The legal parent or guardian must accompany their child.
No sports physicals will be offered.
