Good Morning! SBCS is proud to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ā which we call LLS for short. LLS is a group that works really hard to help people who get sick with blood cancer get better through a community event called Light The Night. Our school will be collecting donations for LLS over the next 4 weeks and our efforts will end with a Light The Night celebration. The Student Council has special plans in place for your class to collect donations as a team and you can even set up an online giving page so your family and friends can support you by donating to LLS. A letter is being sent home in today's Wednesday Folder to share details with your parents. Here at SBCS, we always strive to help others and weāve set a goal to raise $5200 to help cure blood cancers and support patients in our community with LLS. I know we can hit that target when we all do our part. Every donation counts. Get started today. We will be able to meet our goal if each student raises $20 each. And our Light The Night celebration will be on 3/31/23 with a Family Popcorn/Movie Night and Light The Night celebration.
In honor of Women's History Month, the Student Council has put up fliers along the library windows celebrating women in Science. These women have diverse backgrounds and work in different areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Today we are going to have a little fun. We have some T/F questions that we want to ask and if the teacher or Student Council member will let you know the answer by smashing a hard boiled egg or not boiled egg on their head. Each egg has a T for True or F for False on the egg. Let's get started.
(Egg Activity)
The Student Council would like to help promote the Kindness Club's goal to spread kindness through the school so each day we will share a Kindness Challenge. Your challenge is to do five or more acts of kindness.
Today's LLS Ball Charter Kindness Challenge is to Smile at someone.
LLS also wants students to Choose Science and has a Fun Fact-a-Day about STEM topics: Today's Wild Word Wednesday fact is: Absolute zero is the lowest temperature that can possibly be reached.
Let's work hard to meet our goal of $5200 for a good cause. It's possible! If each student raises only $20 we would blow this goal out of the park. Let's show how much we can care about others and help to beat blood cancers.
The Parent Survey Supplement of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be conducted from January 24th - March 31, 2023. Middle level students can wear a hat or hood Wednesday if they donate a dollar to Kindness Club. The money will be used to fund objects and activities for kindness club projects.
