Superintendent Gill was the guest host on Sports Radio 1450 AM Springfield on Thursday, March 3. It was a District 186 takeover and guests and topics included teachers, administrators, staff and students talking about their respective corners of the universe.
The morning kicked off with Principal Beveridge and Mr. Curry talking about Butler Elementary’s Centennial and construction project, and we even snapped a photo with #pocketbobcat.
Conversations about #OurSchoolsOurFuture Facilities Master Plan projects continued with BLDD Architects’ Todd Cyrulik and O’Shea Builders’ Greg Doolin and Max Dirker, who are heading up the comprehensive reconstruction of Lanphier High School and Memorial Stadium, which collectively are promised to be the pride of the north side.
Speaking of pride, Supt. Gill was thrilled to feature students from all three high schools to hear their take on resilience and growth through COVID. Luke Hockenyos (Springfield), Passion Hood (Southeast) and Geneice Thompson (Lanphier) had powerful insights and big plans for the future.
The future of District 186 is also being shaped by career pipeline programs for both students and staff, which were discussed with Chief Equity Officer Jamar Scott and Executive Director of Secondary Programs Lance Thurman.
We touched on the topics of social emotional learning and support with Braided Behavior Support Systems (BBSS) experts Courtney Goss, Gail Kolbeck and Gail Capps.
The morning culminated with Terrance Jordan telling us about upcoming family and community engagement (FACE) opportunities.
Thank you to Sports Radio 1450 for having us and shining a light on #team186!
