High school students from Lanphier High School, Springfield Southeast Spartans, Springfield High School (SHS) Booster Club , and Sacred Heart-Griffin High School came together at SSHS for an unforgettable experience.
Organized by the Superintendent's Student Roundtable & sponsored by Springfield Public Schools Foundation , this Unity Day featured dynamic speakers from three incredible charities: Washington Street Mission, African American History Museum, and Midwest Mission.
Students actively engaged with Midwest Mission, learning the art of weaving and crafting mats from plastic bags. Their enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference shone through! Students will be collecting money all week long during city tournament both electronically & cash to then divide among the charities.
But the excitement didn't stop there! Students had an absolute blast with team-building activities, building LEGO cars for an epic race down the track. The winning team snagged a free ticket to the City Tournament – talk about an adrenaline rush! And let's not forget the relay races, where they aced the three-legged race and mastered the art of balancing a ping pong ball on a spoon.
Today was not just about activities; it was a celebration of our incredible high school students and the meaningful impact they bring to our community. Seeing them serve, learn, and connect with one another warms our hearts. Their passion and commitment make our community brighter and stronger. Here's to the remarkable students shaping our future! Let's celebrate the power of unity!
