STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide support for the success of every student in District 186. Our district provides a continuum of services for students with disabilities from preschool, age three, through high school graduation. Specialized services are also provided for limited English proficient students, students with health needs, and students with social emotional needs. We hope our website addresses many of your questions. However, if you are in need of additional information, please call our office at 217-525-3060 for further assistance.

Our Vision for Inclusion

We will cultivate a learning community that recognizes every student is a general education student first and foremost. In our inclusive instructional environment, we aspire to empower students with diverse learning needs to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Interpreter Services for IEP - Parent/Guardian Notification

Public school districts are required to take whatever action is necessary to facilitate a parent or guardian’s understanding of and participation in IEP. This includes the provision of interpreter services for parents/guardians whose native language is not English or a sign language interpreter for parents/guardians who are deaf or hard of hearing. In the absence of qualified interpreters on staff, school districts may use outside vendors, including telephonic interpreters. Parents/guardians have the right to request that an interpreter provided by the school district serve no other role during an IEP, and the school district must make reasonable efforts to comply with that request.  To request an interpreter or if you have any questions or complaints about interpretation services, please contact the building Special Education Case Manager/Department Chair.
