Southeast Spartans City Champions

Your 2024 Esports City Champions, the Southeast Spartans!

Having participated and held leadership roles in other extracurriculars throughout high school, nothing prepared me more for the skills I needed after graduation than my years with the Esports team.

Meet the Coaching Staff of the Springfield Capitols!

Springfield is a dominant program, not only downstate, but also across the state. Anytime you face off against the Capitols, it will be a contest without quarter. As a coach, you know who the "black and silver legion" of fans are; they bring the hype and noise expected of an athletic event. Never underestimate or overlook the Capitols... they play to win.

Springfield Capitols Team Awards

*Denotes an award that is no longer given out.

I can safely say I've never encountered a more ambitious or better-dressed high school sports team of any stripe than the esports team in Springfield, which shouldn't be a surprise if you know their visionary leader.

Springfield Capitols Hall of Fame

Each year, one senior from each graduating class is chosen to be inducted into the Capitols Hall of Fame. Hall of Famers are chosen based on in-game performance, real-world character, academic performance, leadership ability, and overall impact on the program. No matter how many qualified individuals there are in a given graduating class, only one is chosen.

TJ Malensky

TJ Malensky or "Scopes" represents the Class of 2019 in the Capitols Hall of Fame. Prior to the Capitols formally existing, TJ participated in the Southeast Spartans Esports Club his senior year. A highly skilled Rocket League player, he was accepted to Robert Morris University in Chicago, the first college in the country to give out esports scholarships, on a full ride for esports. This story of success and potential was that catalyst that began community buy-in to the Springfield Capitols, in part leading to LRS donating $10,000 to start our program. TJ went on to play Rocket League and Call of Duty at the collegiate and semi-professional level.
